Barbara Ehrenreich (born August 26, 1941) is an American author, social critic, and political activist. She is best known for her 2001 book "Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America" and has been referred to as a contemporary muckraker. Ehrenreich is also an honorary co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America.
