What personality type is Darkstalker? Darkstalker is an ENTP personality type in MBTI, 7w8 - so/sx - 728 in Enneagram, in Big 5, LIE in Socionics.
After thinking about this more, I actually think that he is core 7 and not 3. All of the reasons that people are typing him as 3 can be equally explained by 7. First of all, building on what I said in my previous comment where I was just arguing for a 7 fix, he is afraid of being deprived of the chance to live and enjoy life. This extends to the point where he hates even falling asleep for the deprivation it would cause him. His always trying to live in the moment is contrasted with Clearsight’s focus on the future and Fathom being haunted by his past, and he tries to get the others to do the same, he is always trrying to get the others to stop worrying and focusing on the negative. Furthermore, 7s are perpetually optimistic and idealizing the world around them, which definitely describes Darkstalker’s attitude – he pushes away the negative futures and focuses only on the good. Despite being naturally gifted in future-telling just like Clearsight, being born under three moons and all, he doesn’t put the effort into getting good at it. This is for two reasons. One is that he thinks it is boring and time consuming to devote that much effort into learning one skill, noting that he could do it if he was forced, like if he was trapped underground for months (which he of course is eventually). 7s, unlike 5s (Clearsight), are scattered in their interests, often having many talents but wanting to be free and not trapped in one thing so they do a little of everything, until they are able to integrate to 5. They are also described as charlatans because they overstep their scattered knowledge to entice others with their dreams and plans and false expertise, which fits how Darkstalker presents himself to Moon as if he was always as good at telling the future as Clearsight and it was Clearsight who was overly focused on the negative futures. The second reason for not wanting to get better at telling the future is that he does not want to be trapped by all of the negative emotions and worries, to have to introspect, analyze and criticize himself (because 7s are scared of their own internal world). He wants to be able to do what he wants and not be trapped in any way, again indicative of 7, and to continue to believe the best of the future, that he will do great things and everyone will be happy. I feel like people are typing him as 3 for two reasons. One is his arrogance which seems typical of 3. However, this fits 7 as well, in fact it is 7s that are associated with clinical narcissism in their worst states, not 3. 7s idealize themselves as well as other things, just as Darkstalker idealizes himself and believes he could never possibly be evil. They tend to believe themselves above the normal responsibilities and duties of life, like a god, to the point of seeing their irresponsibility as a virtue. Darkstalker certainly seems proud of his lack of concern for monitoring himself , and to have an inflated view of himself in general. The second reason I think people are typing him as 3 is that he has grand ambitions to be king and to change the world with his powers. However, 7s are very future-oriented – not in terms of worrying about the future, which they want to avoid, but in terms of always having plans and dreams for the future and new exciting things they can do, to keep the walls from crashing down on them. Thus planning is a word associated with 7 by the original authors of the Enneagram. Darkstalker is certainly always planning and dreaming, but he never has a fear he will be worthless and inconsequential if he doesn’t become king, or tries to maintain an image of himself and suppress his true self, or has a clear ideal he’s picked up from society of who he wants to be – he just has plans for the future.
