What personality type is Fenris? Fenris is an ISTP personality type in MBTI, 6w5 - sp/sx - 684 in Enneagram, RLOEN in Big 5, LSI in Socionics.
I still think he's ISTP, not because he's a ''stereotypical harsh warrior'', but because of his functions. People suggested that he's INTP, but I think that his Se is better than Si. I don't see Fenris Ne at all. Fenris, when he was talking with Merrill, said that he had no attachment to his people and he said that he did not care about the culture and past of his people. Merrill was constantly trying to prove to him that it was important to know his traditions/past (Si), and he denied it and said he didn't care. When Varania betrayed him, Fenris completely cut himself off from his family and didn't want to know his past. In my opinion, his difficulty with moving on stems from the fact that all his life was limited to being a slave. His memories of normal life didn't exist. It's hard to adapt to a new life when all you know is limited to serving another person. I think that each type (even Se - dom), regardless of function, would have a problem with settling a normal life. Like, when you have erased all your memories you are just an obedient slave. Especially because Fenris is 6w5, so he's motivated by fear, he may delay making a decision if he is unsure of something, but It doesn't come from being attached to the past or basing your motivation on experience, but from uncertainty and fear of the future (I believe it's over-analytical Ti/Ni). 6w5 can be phobic or antiphobic, given Fenris's past, he was submissive and phobic when he was a slave, and over time, after regaining his freedom, he became antiphobic and even rebellious. Imo Fenris Se is more visible than his Si, he always gives Hawke advice on worldly situations, is good at planning battle strategies, is perceptive and notices changes in the environment around him / his companions. Honestly, I don't see Fenris Ne. His Ne should be more visible than Si (If he were an INTP). His humour is typical dry and simple ISTP humour (at least for me), different than Varric colorful Ne - dom humour or even Anders snarky Ne - auxiliary humour. I believe that Fenris' loyalty and his willingness to belong to a certain group stem from his enneagram (6w5), which emphasizes these qualities. This in no way rules out the individualism that is characteristic of an ISTP. 6w5 is extremely loyal to people around them, so it is important to consider the person's enneagram as well. I think Fenris is too practical and specific to be an INTP, he is intelligent and analytical, but uses these qualities to achieve a specific goal. I agree that Fenris has a good Ti (I personally believe that Fenris is one of the most intelligent companions in DA II along with Varric).
