Personality

What personality type is Michelle "MJ" Jones-Watson? Michelle "MJ" Jones-Watson is an INTP personality type in MBTI, 5w4 - sx/sp - 549 in Enneagram, RCUEI in Big 5, ILI in Socionics.

This is going to be a very long comment lol but this is my understanding of ixtps and how their different and related to Mj: I've been doing a ton of research on ISTP vs INTP due to my recent type crisis lol so I'll do my best to try and describe the differences and relate them to MJ. So the biggest difference is between their Se and Ne. They still look very similar on the outside because their sensing and I tuitive functions are in the middle of their stacks, even if they are opposite functions they are still very capable of using ANY function, they just don't PREFER to use the other... With that being said, Se and Ne have preferences and USUALLY you can tell the difference if you really focus on the character/person. So, Se is very movement oriented. Se likes to adapt and improvise, not really think through what their about to do before they do it. Yes, they have that ni but they don't prefer to use it, in fact they try to repress it so that they can just DO. ISTPs are know for their pride in just taking action and not wasting their time on useless mental pursuits that have no value or practicality in the real world. This is why they are so good at figuring things out with their hands and understanding how mechanics work, but lack skill in theory and mental puzzles. It's not that they aren't capable, they just don't care about it, they have other interests that they are better at/rather indulge in. Ne, on the other hand, is all about mental possibilities. "What reasons could explain why this is the way it is?" "What possibilities could come from this?" INTPs love to be in their heads and question things in real life. They see a dog outside alone and think "did this dog run away from its owner?" "Is it a stray? " "does it need food" "should i call the shelter?" Etc... Ne needs to process all the possible scenarios BEFORE taking action. It's not that they aren't capable of taking action, it just takes a lot more effort and anxiety to skip that mental process and just DO. An ISTP would've just fed the dog, or called the shelter, or DONE something, because Se is movement before process and Ne is Process before movement. Now onto MJ. Once you put and ixtp in real life, they look extremely similar to one another. They are both capable of using all the functions so really what we are trying to observe is the character's use of sensing first or intuition first. How does she make decisions? Is she practical or is she theoretical? The biggest example where I see Ne over Se is when she figures out that Peter is Spiderman. Yes, both ixtps are wonderful problem solvers, but the thought of Peter being Spiderman even though Mj had been told otherwise and there was no tangible proof of this theory, is more Ne over Se. I'm not saying an ISTP wouldn't notice eventually but I don't think they would let themselves believe it if they didn't have proof. ISTPs are better at evaluating an environment when they already know the one possibility. Like evaluating a murder scene. They know someone was murdered there and it's their job to evaluate the scene and figure things out according to the murder using the proof in their environment. They need to have that solution or REASON. But Mj had absolutely nothing to go by except a theory and that's Ne. When Peter said he had to leave early for multiple made up reasons I dont remember atm, an ISTP would believe that reason over their suspicion unless they had many experiences with their proven intuition in their lifetime but an INTP wouldn't let go of that theory and would indulge in it, beyond their personal experience (si) proving theory has no use in reality. Mj is a teen without much experience with life, so I doubt she would be proficient in trusting her 3rd and 4th function. Out of the billions of people Spiderman could be, she connected the dots between a teen boy at her school and a random super hero she saw on the news. In my opinion, that's Ne over Se. And yes, I know this is only one example but honestly it's a HUGE example because this was a huge thing to uncover and have her mull over in her mind for however long. I hoped this helped, I'm always open for debating! It's been a while since I've watched the other movies excluding the recent one.
