What personality type is 2B? 2B is an ISTJ personality type in MBTI, 1w9 - sp/so - 164 in Enneagram, RCOAN in Big 5, ESI in Socionics.
I definitely see ISTJ, but I don't see INFJ. The reasoning for INFJ relies too much on the idea that she's wearing a mask, and while that's possible, it's a super huge stretch when you consider the fact that we almost never see her use INFJ functions like Fe and Ni. The idea of a mask is also troublesome because it gives the impression that: "anytime a thinker type shows emotion, it must mean they're really a feeler wearing a mask", and that's an idea that's not true. Not every IxTJ is a robot without feelings (most of them aren't). *spoilers ahead* The 2E designation: Why would an ISTJ not start feeling attachment to someone who they've gotten to closely know time and time again? Why would they not feel pain after killing a friend time and time again? Yet despite the pain, 2B kept going. This is likely a combination of high Si and Te. 2B can only view her life being one way and she has great trouble moving away from that mindset/ seeing future possibilities for herself. She also views everything she does through that lens. Thanks to her higher Te, she also often puts her feelings aside believing that doing that will pragmatically and objectively help those around her (and help to efficiently complete the mission). This can be easily misinterpreted as Fe, but I assure you that self-sacrifice is not exclusive to Fe users. Fe still heavily depends on the feelings of those around you, but we know that 2B often dismisses the feelings of others and advises them to focus on their mission and duty instead. (her lack of Fe actually makes for some funny dialogues with 9S and the operator) I think towards the end of her life, 2B embraced more of her Fi and Ne. When she tells A2 to take care of everyone and protect the future, she's not trying to fulfill her given duty anymore, instead, she focuses more on a personal duty, which she passes on to someone else. 2B is not looking toward a specific future or dream but simply wants people to be able to live their lives freely (no doubt that she had 9S in mind, which makes his downfall all the more tragic).
