What personality type is Heimdall? Heimdall is an ESTJ personality type in MBTI, 3w2 - sx/so - 368 in Enneagram, SLOEN in Big 5, in Socionics.
Heimdall is ESTJ. His Te usage is evident. He speaks only in absolutes and only cares about efficiency. His Ti absence is obvious, as he doesn't strife for his own logical consistency and isn't interested in the deeper meaning of anything. He doesn't construct his own internal logical framework, and instead he makes decisions based on external logic, such as: "Loki is a Giant, and since Giants are my enemies, Loki is my enemy". He also values action over theory, and has a very authoritative and demanding figure rather than an introspective or deductive one. His auxiliary Si is also noticeable, and it's mostly expressed as an unhealthy and obsessive form of bigotry towards Asgard and Odin himself. He is obsessed with tradition and with maintaining the established system and security of his Realm. He's also quite close-minded, guiding himself only by the established rules and mindset of his culture. In short, he just wants everything to stay the same as it ever was, discarding any possible presence of Ni, a much more future-oriented function. On the other hand, his tertiary Ne is present in a more playful and childish way, using clever and witty expressions and insults on his interactions. It is an underdeveloped function, as he doesn't use it an efficient way, but in a superficial and frivolous one. His inferior Fi is also very unhealthy and underdeveloped, as he doesn't think twice on using violence or resorting to extreme measures to apply his Te-like rules and his Si-like mentality, becoming a very immoral person even though he's constantly talking about his patriotic belief system, which in reality just consists on a very hypocritical moral compass. ESTJ works perfectly for this character, and I'm sure that the ENTP votes merely come from the fact that he's talkative, witty and annoying. There's also a handful of ENTJ votes, and most of them justify said vote with the fact that since Heimdall is the God of Foresight, he must be a Ni user, and since he's quite violent, he must also be a Se user. Addressing the supposed Ni, his superpower is completely unrelated to his cognitive functions, specially considering how he's not future-oriented at all in terms of mindset and cognitive abilities. The Se argument is poor, as any type is perfectly capable of extreme violence, not only Se users. A type which is high on Si such as ESTJ can be just as violent as a high Se user, specially is said Si is used in a very unhealthy way such as Heimdall's.
Biography
Heimdall (Old Norse: Heimdallr) is the God of Foresight and the vigilant of the Aesir. He is a son of Odin, half-brother of Thor, Týr, and Baldur, and uncle of Magni and Modi. Heimdall is described as a loyalist and true believer in Odin's cause. As such he is incredibly loyal to Odin, but he will try to go against Odin's will if he senses a threat to the All Father. He is snarky, condescending and held a great deal of confidence in his own abilities to the point of arrogance. This is best seen where he belittled Atreus and Thrud as he knew that they are inferior to him in power. Despite his power, Heimdall is fearful of people of greater power as he backed down from harassing Atreus due to Thor's intervention.
