They never resonated with any of the systems, and did them to have approval from the king, although not being sold into his ideas. They did have a lot of internal turmoil, caused specifically by the king and that made him weak in the fight against the Radiance. They were forced into a grip and that cost them their entire life to be wasted. Now, they live as a vessel for the radiance, but completely dead inside.
