[1/2] 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐢𝐱 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐈𝐍(𝐅) & 𝐈𝐒(𝐅) The Point Six is fixated on Ego-Cowardice, also known as Over-Adventurer. This ego is based on Practical Ego, also known as Head center, which is a response from Adaptation instinct, the instinct to adapt and find one’s place in the world. This fixation arises from a sense of being “useless in the childhood relationship with siblings and/or peers” (Ichazo on Point 6) and psychically poisoned by Deceit. In this context, Deceit means self-deception about one’s own delusions and worries about how to do things. We could understand this fixation as a cognitive distortion that one has to be constantly on alert to their environment, due to their perception that they were useless and any danger could harm them anytime. This fixation would create the passion of Fear. This passion doesn’t mean fear in a literal sense. As Naranjo explained, this passion “need not be directly manifested in behavior” (Character & Neurosis). This means that the passion of Fear could manifest in other forms like anxiety, aggression, dogmatism, reservation, antagonism, etc., e.g the Fear is 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬. Although each E6 subtype handles Fear in variable ways, all the E6 subtypes experience “the presence of anxiety-that derivative of fear that might be characterized as fear without the perception of external or internal danger” (Character & Neurosis). Therefore, the E6 is a character that is driven by anxiety. To manage this anxiety, E6 uses cognition to learn about their environment and how to navigate them. They do not trust their environment and consciously hold on to themselves, while at the same time they seek security from an inner chosen concept (people, ideology, authority figure, etc.), essentially “give themselves up” and cautiously watch their environment. Therefore, ambivalence is another key trait of E6, a constant ricochet between two axes of mistrusting and too trusting. When this structure meets the conservational-related Self-Preservation instinct, this would produce a character that is always anxious that their survivability would be harmed. Ichazo called this neurotic need as “Affection” while Naranjo called it as “Warmth”. We could understand this neurotic need as a need to show an amicable attitude towards people, a friendly disposition out of SP6’s inner anxiety that people could harm them anytime. To protect themselves, SP6 needs other’s protection, and to get other’s protection, they show a friendly, nice, warm attitude. Naranjo explained that this outwardly warm attitude is done to form social alliances that would protect the SP6. “I am not going to hurt you and you are not going to hurt me”, “I am your friend, be my friend” (27 personajes en busca del ser). We could see that this affective warm attitude of SP6 is driven by this neurotic need of having social alliances, due to the SP6’s own perception that everyone could harm them. This usually results in SP6 struggling to take stances; they struggle to see things in black-and-white way because they want to appease everyone, out of inner anxiety that if they take any stances, anyone would take offense and harm them in the process. For SP6, it’s better to say “Oh, there are several types of shades of gray in between. And I don't really know what kind of gray we're talking about, because life is very complex.” (Character & Neurosis), instead of taking stances.

سيرة شخصية

This subtype is warm and friendly. They disguise their fear by being soft and kind, and not aggressive. They feel fear as separation anxiety and try to attract strong protectors and allies to feel more protected. They are actively fearful and often “phobic,” running away from danger (flight, not fight). They experience the most doubt and uncertainty, and trust others more than themselves. They are the most fearful of being angry, and they hesitate the most and ask the most questions. But they don’t answer any.
