Saying this type can’t be 1L because they are ambivalent is like saying E5 can’t be 1L because they are conflict-avoidant. Proof of how AP has been an absolute cancer on understanding psychosophy — over emphasizing rigid positional placements and throwing the mental hierarchy out the window without understanding that the placements themselves are literally formed by and subordinate to that hierarchy. “As dutiful distrusters, they resolve conflicts trusting in logic. While the E7 uses intellect as a strategy, the E6 shows a fanatic loyalty to reason. To feel confident, they adopt the strategy of searching for problems: they must have them in order to solve them.” How this can be construed as anything but the absolute prioritization of 1L is beyond me. The “ambivalent” thinking of Sp6 doesn’t come from uncertainty or insecurity about reasoning, it comes from the chronic need to people-please. This is why Sp6 is so anxious all the time, as there is an everlasting conflict of interest between the neurotic emotional need to placate everyone’s views, while also being rigid and unyielding in their own. It is the best strategy to get along with everyone, but what do you do when someone suggests something obviously stupid? Sp6’s ambivalent nature is not because they don’t think enough, it’s because they think TOO much, and are overwhelmed by so many thoughts that they can’t effectively or decisively sort them. What will they think of me if I tell them I don’t like their idea? What if they start excluding me or making fun of me? But what if they go through with the idea, and get angry that I didn’t say anything against it? Framed this way, it’s not hard to see that logic is very obviously the center of the Sp6 mental space. They’re the most overthinking type in the entire enneagram, 1L is the only logic position that makes any sense

This subtype is warm and friendly. They disguise their fear by being soft and kind, and not aggressive. They feel fear as separation anxiety and try to attract strong protectors and allies to feel more protected. They are actively fearful and often “phobic,” running away from danger (flight, not fight). They experience the most doubt and uncertainty, and trust others more than themselves. They are the most fearful of being angry, and they hesitate the most and ask the most questions. But they don’t answer any.
