"ما نوع الشخصية Sully Sullenberger؟ Sully Sullenberger هو نوع ISTJ في mbti ، 6w7 - sp/sx - 692 في enneagram ، RCOEN في Big 5 ، SLI في Socionics."
Given the fact i awarded an ISTP argument years back, this is bizarre lol. Anyways at that time i didn't know much about Sully. After reading his book and listening to interviews I don't see any reason for ISTP or 6w7 anymore. I suspect people are typing the event, not the man. Ie fast reaction to novel situation>Se. However, every highly trained pilot reacts quickly to changing events. His whole personality is built on preparation, procedure, and accumulated memory over decades which aligns more with Si dom, than auxillary Se to me. In his book the vast majority isn’t spent on the day he landed in the Hudson. Most chapters are a build up of events and training which explain why decades of methodical practice, internalized checklists and a very deep intelligent procedural memory helped him manage that bird strike. Just the fact that his reactions felt “automatic” because he had rehearsed every scenario thousands of times seems more Si. He fortunately retrieved the stored solutions and data of decades to achieve something incredible under pressure. Sully’s landing wasn’t impulsive genius, it was the result of 40 plus years of internalized routines. Sully knew the variables and what to prioritise. Altitude, Airspeed, Glide ratio and Distance from airports.... after factoring in all these, he then chose the least lethal option given his location. A great video to see these thought processes is here https://youtu.be/w6EblErBJqw “10,000 other days, literally, completely routine and unremarkable.” “I had learned my craft so well, I knew my airplane and profession so intimately.” He repeatedly frames his thinking in terms of past flights, long term familiarity, and internalized knowledge. He's recalling, retrieving and applying stored patterns with absolute discipline. Beyond Si the way he processes the emergency seems more Te than Ti “I knew it was only a matter of minutes, I had to choose the best possible place.” He ran rapid objective calculations. His focus is on outcome, efficiency, and execution. He describes the situation like an engineer solving a practical problem under constraints. “I chose to do only the highest priority items and had the discipline to ignore everything else.” That’s Te prioritization applied through Si discipline in my opinion. Even his careful PA announcement isn’t necessarily Fe or Fi creativity, although I'd be remiss to remove that possibility entering his mind. Anyways, it also has elements of Te professionalism plus Si awareness of protocols, in this case knowledge of useful vocabulary in training and execution of the statement for maximum impact...pun intended, I suppose. "I chose specific words for specific reasons” "This is the captain, brace for impact" If the runways were unreachable, the river was the only remaining option and he had to choose the least dangerous path, pure risk minimisation. Even the way he talks about his co pilot Jeff Skiles evokes Si-Te to me. He describes wordless coordination based on shared training, protocols, and familiarity with procedures. I can explain his Tertiary and Inferior functions if need be, however his Dominant and Auxilliary seem most important to clarify. I believe Sully is a 1w9, as he says in his book integrity for him is simply doing what's right even when it's inconvenient. His worldview is all about duty, responsibility, and professionalism. I can’t rule out 6, but that was my conclusion. Anyways i've already rambled enough to suggest why I see Si-Te more than Ti-Se. Take it or leave it, as you see fit.
