What personality type is Shinji Ikari? Shinji Ikari is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 9w8 - sp/sx - 964 in Enneagram, RLUEN in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.
i think hes just a very apathetic IEI. hes too emotional and moved by tears to be a SLI. not every cynical edgy person is SLI. also, the comment below not only proves he is core 6, but it also kind of proves that he might actually belong in the beta quadra instead of delta. also, most sx6s are Se-Ni valuing, and i cant really see a SLI being sx6 since they're more about keeping everything chill and cuz they're super conflict avoidant (doesnt apply to only SLIs, but actually the whole delta qaudra in general. plus, many ISTP sx6s are mistyped as SLI since many ppl tend to think IST-P = IST-p, when in reality many of them are actually probably LSI or SLE). all in all so far, he seems like a very unstable IEI-Fe. Fe because he does seem EIE in some ways, but i seem as more clearly Se seeking than he is Ti seeking. however, i voted sp6, because he still seems quite vulnerable for someone whos primarily sx6, although he still does have his counterphobic tendencies. and to compare him to anime rei (who happens to be PoLR Fe), he doens't care about suppressing his emotions and rei is a far more blank and emotionless person whos def SLI (or ILI) and 3E, as her being 3E is self-explanatory. so essentially bad E in AP doesn't make sense either. if at all, he seems openly insecure in volition (can also be in relation to his suggestive Se) and i cant imagine a FLEV being so angry and emotional. shinji just isnt one of the most stoic types, i cant see him as one. PDB should learn to stop typing every cynical person they see as FLEV SLI. UPDATE: ok so i thoguht abt it for a while and i think hes def sx6.
Biography
The Shinji of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's manga is considerably different from his animated counterpart. Although Shinji still has issues with his father and his past, and is plagued by self-doubt and feelings of worthlessness, he is considerably more apathetic, depressive, and he is also prone to being angry, snide and sarcastic rather than being fearful and cringing. Shinji in the manga is also much more violent than he is in the anime. For example, one of the first things he does after being forced to attack Toji (who is severely injured and crippled in the anime, but actually dies of his injuries in the manga) is to try to punch his father. He is also something of a know-it-all and slightly more audacious and cynical when it comes to dealing with others, for instance mentally thinking of Asuka as a "bitch" and displaying a dislike for her, though they get closer over time.
