What personality type is Grantaire? Grantaire is an ENTP personality type in MBTI, 7w8 - sp/sx - 748 in Enneagram, RCUEN in Big 5, ESE in Socionics.
Regarding the ENFP votes, how could he possibly have Fi aux? His character is literally described specifically about being cynical and don't caring about morals nor personal values. Reading onto the philosophical references made by Hugo, I could even see a sort of comparison (or rather, similarity) between Grantaire and controversial philosophers such as Socrates and Diogenes. Here's a quote from the book: "All those words- rights of the people, rights of man, humanity, civilization, religion, progress- are very near meaningless to Grantaire. He smiled at them. Skepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, has left not one entire idea in his mind. He lives in irony. This is his one axiom: The one certainly is a full glass. He ridicules all dedication under all circumstances..." R is purposely written as a skeptic. Even Enjolras, who is the only person he actually listens to, scolds him for being skeptical, yet Grantaire still doesn't care about concrete causes at all. Also... tert Te? Instead of tert Fe? Where? Tert Fe is a tricky function, that's why many people fall into the misconception that ExTPs are emotionless or don't care about anyone's feelings. Grantaire doesn't care about society as a whole; there's rather a historical context regarding his skepticism about humanity, because he sees history as something nonsense and that repeats itself. Therefore, he sees society as something unstable, as a result of said past events. Grantaire has his own abstract way of seeing things (Ne-Ti) and his only motivation to actually help in the insurrection is Enjolras. His love for Enjolras shows that an external cue, an individual, is the only reason for him to risk his life. In contrast to his obvious lack of Fi, this last thing seems like a case of Fe.
