Personality

What personality type is Mitsumi Iwakura? Mitsumi Iwakura is an ENFJ personality type in MBTI, 1w2 - sp/so - 136 in Enneagram, SCOAI in Big 5, LSE in Socionics.

Mitsumi Iwakura is an ENFJ, not an ESTJ. I will explain this in detail, but first, for those of you who are short on time, here's a very short conversation between Mitsumi and Shima in Chapter 4 of the manga: Mitsumi: "I wonder if Kurume-san had any fun." Shima: "I think it really went well. You know you have a way of making things go smoothly." These are not my words, but Shima's own words. We will see a LOT more of these kinds of conversations and dynamics later on. Now, let's officially begin the analysis. I will explain why she is on the Fe-Ti axis in Parts 1 and 2, then in Part 3 I will explain why she is on the Ni-Se axis. In Part 4, I will compare her to Tokiko, and in Part 5, I will compare her to Mika, demonstrating their differences in cognition and how they contribute to the growth of one another. Part 1: Fe-Ti Fe-Ti prioritizes something called “Group-Symmetric Valuation”, which basically means seeking to keep certain groups of people happy and united and upholding the values of said groups. Ti seeks to define what these values are and how to work within that framework. Let’s look at how Mitsumi does this, starting from Chapter 1 of the manga. “I will use these three years in high school to develop the academic prowess that I need for that dream to come true. Not that my family has shown much interest in that dream, though…They mainly worry about those things (having fun at school, making friends), so…I suppose…I might need to do some of those too, in moderation” (uncertainty in statements, Ti) (making friends isn’t her ultimate goal but she wants to validate her family regardless, Fe). “Nao-chan, you worry too much. I’ll be fine (avoids worrying people).” “What if I don't make it in time? My family is going to call me for certain. They'll ask me how the entrance ceremony went. I'm sure they'll worry if I tell them how this went…So I lie? To what extent, then?” (tries to define the extent to which she should lie so as to not worry her family, Fe-Ti) As you can see from this quote, Mitsumi starts out by getting lost on the way to school due to lack of research on train stations and timetables, as well as forgetting her script and making no contingency plans like bringing along a memo or something to look at for reference when making her speech. This demonstrates a LACK of Te. Te users are generally very careful about organizing their outer world for efficiency, ESPECIALLY if it's an important event like this. “(Looking at the classroom) I wonder what kind of people they are? I want to build a friendly relationship with them (focuses on the humanitarian aspect before the mechanical).” “I made friends with, like, two people. A cute, fashionable girl, and…a really kind boy. This morning, I got lo…almost got lost at the train station, and he helped me out. He's in the same class that I am. (once again avoids worrying her friend and appeals to surface level descriptory language such as how “fashionable” or “kind” people are, Fe-Se)“ “I prepped for the test for the new students, and already did the homework for the spring break. It will be fine going forward from tomorrow. It's me, after all… …Tomorrow, we have to do the self-intro…Naw, I think it'll be fine, or…not…Maybe a rough draft…Just on what I want to cover? The first impression is important after all, right? The structure of my intro should match the atmosphere of the class and the students. (Ends up staying up all night, indicating overwhelming concern for what everyone thinks about her rather than simply putting together a short, concise intro and calling it a day. This also indicates she has PoLR Si due to ignoring bodily needs)” Chapter 2: Mika downplays Shima’s affection for Mitsumi, causing her to feel dejected. Chapter 3: Kanechika compliments Mitsumi, and despite the fact that these are hollow compliments related only to her being charming or memorable, Mitsumi takes it at face value and exclaims, “It's a sin…to be this talented.” (Te-Fi does not take so kindly to fake compliments and would likely be repulsed, while Fe-Ti is either flattered or at least tries to maintain some surface facade like a smile or a ‘thank you’)
