What personality type is Dan? Dan is an ENTP personality type in MBTI, 8w7 - sx/so - 684 in Enneagram, SLUEI in Big 5, LIE in Socionics.
ESTJ/8 types are commanders, and leaders. When they are healthy that's what they want to do. When they are unhealthy it's still what they want to do, but with more physical abuse. They want to be involved with others. That gives them structure and purpose. It's part of how their extroversion works. This is not who Dan is. If he was happy and healthy, he'd still be comfortable living mostly like he is, with Chris as his friend. There are quite a few moments in the show where he even shows disdain for being put in positions of leading other people's lives or decisions (unless it's Chris, his One lifeline). When Dan isn't angry or miffed about something, the guy is pretty chill actually. Once he's made things "even" he is done with it as well. No harm no foul. He likes to keep to himself. He's a little rat-man. A goblin. Noone is saying it so I'll say it, the guy has CPTSD. It is even directly stated in the show he had a bad childhood. His anger symptoms and outlandish ways to protect himself is an unhealthy CPTSD defense response. Having symptoms of CPTSD does not equal = lolol ESTJ/8 commander!!! I pick 6w5 wing, cause again, if you /watch the show/ it's a core character trait that he is looking up weird factoids in his spare time which makes him feel safe and secure. This is pre-modern internet too. The guy is poor asf and went out of his way to get a computer and research stuff online. Not the best stuff to research obviously, But dang is he looking shit up and reading. The 5 wing fits his intellectual side, his independent nature, and his loyalty. He also has a file shelf by his front door full of papers, folders, and books. As well, Dan shows the traits of weak Fe. His emotions are affected by other people, and Dan can be emotionally manipulated and tricked because of this. Even if he acts like he protests, if he is letting people have their way with him, that's cause of Fe. (He could fight and run away if he really wanted to) He secretly longs to be accepted and needs feedback (Fe) from Chris/Mr. Mumbles often. In one scene Dan asks aloud "WHY AM I SO ANGRY?" People with Fe literally need other people to help them figure out their own emotions. Even when it is Incredibly Obvious to everyone else. Fe = a person whose emotions are easy to read. Introverted Feeling means someone who introspects their feelings often, which Dan does not do. Instead he looks to the external world, and blames the external world for /his/ emotions. Even a person with weak Fi would understand "Yeah I'm probably angry from my messed up childhood". Even Batman gets that much.
