What personality type is Young K (DAY6)? Young K (DAY6) is an ENTP personality type in MBTI, 8w9 - so/sx - 873 in Enneagram, SCUAI in Big 5, EIE in Socionics.
I honestly don’t know what his enneagram type is because he has no clear faults or insecurities that might point to any of the core fears, but I’m just going to argue for 8w9 because I can definitely see him being a soc8, especially with a 9 wing. Don’t take the evidence I’m using too seriously since I don’t think there’s much evidence for any type, and it’s also pretty pointless and weird to try and psychoanalyse a stranger, but I’m just gonna explain why I’m voting 8w9 bc I can see no one is really explaining their votes. I’d like to preface this by stating that the social 8 is the countertype. Social 8s are often diplomatic in their behaviour, and are the 8 subtype most open to criticism from others. They often want the best for the group, and are good at spotting power dynamics. Social 8s are the 8s that are most likely to initially look like 2s depending on the person, but obviously all 8s integrate to 2 so don’t take that too seriously lmao. I think core 8 could be seen in Day6’s earlier days. Not only did he have the whole edgy thing going on back then, but since people often associate 8 with being argumentative (not necessarily true), I’ll say I do doubt he’s someone who runs from conflict, since we’ve heard that he clashed with Jae when the pair first met due to them being too similar. 8s naturally stand their ground, and when it comes to 8w9s in particular they have this vibe of ‘I won’t disturb you if you don’t disturb me’, rather than the 8w7 ‘boundary pusher’ stereotype we’re all so familiar with. The 9 wing combined with the social instinct would make for a very personable 8, like YoungK. Also, he comes across as a confident person, and innate confidence is a core feature of 8s. He’s a driven artist, has writing credits on many songs, and even helps other artists (heard he has helped a member of skz with lyric writing?) on top of that. He never really seems out of control, or scattered, if that makes sense, which makes sense for an 8. 8s aren’t afraid of taking up space, and they often naturally are able to act like they belong wherever they end up. I don’t think he’s someone who struggles with boundaries or being walked over, he’s a very well respected artist among members of other jyp groups, as we all know. The fact that he doesn’t have a clear agenda (if he did, it would be easy to find his enneagram type) says to me that he is part of the gut triad, and is more interested in autonomy and boundaries, rather than guidance and fear, or self-image and shame. The present-focused nature of the gut triad combined with him being an 8w9 countertype would explain why he’s hard to type. Anyway, since I’ve said my reasoning for his triad, I’ll clear up the rest of the gut types too. I doubt he’s a 1, idk how anyone could argue for that. I also don’t think he’s a 9, since I can’t think of any examples of him falling asleep to himself/his anger. He doesn’t seem scared of disrupting others or potentially causing conflict either (eg his jokes, and the whole ‘youngk annoying’ thing ppl ran with for ages). If anyone can argue for 9, go ahead, but I don’t see it. However, the w9 > w7 comes from his soft edge. This next part is a bit of a stretch, but he seems to be someone who enjoys indulging in physical comforts—like cooking, eating in general, and he also is infamous for sleeping in multiple unconventional places, and there’s that video of him being like ‘i want a glass of water but can’t be bothered getting up lol lets just do it later’. To me, he seems less on the go and flighty like a 7 (or like any head type in general) and more like someone who values stability and peace of mind. 873: 7 fix because of his optimism and often lighthearted, extroverted demeanour. Also, I just cannot see a 5 or 6 fix. He enjoys learning new things, as he stated very clearly in his youtube series, but he doesn’t have the withdrawn aspects of a 5, so it can be assumed that he has a 7 fix. 3 fix because of his professionalism and also just the way he acts in front of a camera in general. Especially in Day6’s oldish stuff, he seems to be the member who values being put-together and not too over the top. He doesn’t have a 4 fix, as I think we can all agree that there’s little to no 4 traits in him, but he doesn’t have a 2 fix either. If I should go more in depth about tritype lmk, but I don’t believe I need to. Also, I want to point out that his work ethic is just very stereotypical of a 3 or 3 fix. Any type can have good work ethic but it’s just so stereotypical here that I need to say it. This man has me convinced that everything he touches turns to gold lol Well, that’s my 8w9 explanation. If anyone has any better ideas, prove me wrong pls, I’m not invested in this argument. I know this was 90% speculation and throwing around halfassed explanations, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
