Emperor Barodius (バリオディウス, Bariodiusu?), also known as Mag Mel (マグ·メル, Magu Meru?) after being imprisoned in the dark reverse dimension of Bakugan Interspace by Code Eve, is the former sovereign of Gundalia and the main antagonist of Bakugan: Gundalian Invaders and the 1st arc of Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge. The cruel and power-hungry, he led his army in the Neathian-Gundalian War in hopes of claiming the Sacred Orb. He led the Twelve Orders as its Darkus brawler, and Dharak is his Partner Bakugan. Barodius is a power-hungry tyrant, seeking the Sacred Orb in spite of his father's fear of it and ignoring all of Nurzak's warnings. He has no respect towards his late father, believing him to be superstitious and weak. He also has an interest in the Dark Bakugan's Forbidden Powers, which was the reason why he was willing to keep Ren.
