Personality

What personality type is Joseph Haydn? Joseph Haydn is an ESFJ personality type in MBTI, 2w3 - so/sx - 279 in Enneagram, SCOAI in Big 5, ESE in Socionics.

His pranks are Fe-Ne. The joke from the farewell symphony was made especially out of sympathy for the musicians for example. Haydn is a big innovator for sure, but he always works very much within formal constraints(You could just say that is due to classicism, but hey Haydn is the guy that is championing classicism to become a thing in the first place, among more wilder people like C.P.E Bach) . I think Ne third is right on the money. Ti-dom I find quite weird. I don't see Haydn as much of a philosopher. He knows, what he knows. He is a lighthearted country bumpkin. I don't see Haydn as someone seeking to create a system to understand the laws of music or anything INTPish like that. He just likes to invent things, that give others pure emotional joy, which is the whole Fe-Ne thing, balanced with good taste i.e Si.

Biography

Franz Joseph Haydn (31 March 1732 – 31 May 1809) was an Austrian composer of the Classical period. He was instrumental in the development of chamber music such as the piano trio. His contributions to musical form have earned him the epithets "Father of the Symphony" and "Father of the String Quartet". Haydn spent much of his career as a court musician for the wealthy Esterházy family at their remote estate. Until the later part of his life, this isolated him from other composers and trends in music so that he was, as he put it, "forced to become original". Yet his music circulated widely, and for much of his career he was the most celebrated composer in Europe. He was a friend and mentor of Mozart, a tutor of Beethoven, and the older brother of composer Michael Haydn.
