What personality type is John Flansburgh? John Flansburgh is an ENTP personality type in MBTI, 3w4 - - 846 in Enneagram, in Big 5, in Socionics.
He's the social (socialist and based actually) part of the duo, according to Linnell himself: "I don't think too much about the cultural context of what we're doing. I think John [Flansburgh] is more on that end of it. He thinks more in terms of the larger picture, the larger meaning of what we're doing". "We think of ourselves as civilians. I don’t feel like we feel our insights are any greater than anyone else’s might be, but fortunately we have a microphone so we get to say things that are crossing our minds". He has held the management aspect of the band. I think he's pretty clearly an intuitive thinker with a dominant extroverted function, but I'm not sure whether he would be ENTP or ENTJ. Now this might be a stretch, but I see Fe awareness in him, partly in his interest about social issues but also in his understanding of how people think. If well-intentioned, with an orientation to life not purely egoistical, he may render exceptional service as the promoter, if not the initiator of every kind of promising enterprise. He is the natural advocate of every minority that holds the seed of future promise". This fits with what we've seen with him, and perhaps more importantly with Linnell's description of his character. John Conant Flansburgh (born May 6, 1960) is an American musician. He is half of the long-standing Brooklyn, New York-based alternative rock duo They Might Be Giants, for which he writes, sings, and plays rhythm guitar.
