In an old interview on Charlie Rose, Charlie compared The Boondocks to South Park, as both shows satirize popular culture. Aaron disagreed with him, and it makes sense given their respective approaches to satire. Whereas South Park (Trey Parker ENTP, and Matt Stone INTP) is much more concerned with the Ne exploration of the things they satirize, putting things into ridiculous contexts or taking things to an extreme level; Aaron was much more focused on the purpose behind his satire. Rather than poking fun at popular black culture for the sake of making it ridiculous, his message takes priority and he's not afraid to put his own point of view front and center, whereas South Park tries to stay detached from the culture they are satirizing, even when Matt and Trey themselves are members of those groups. Lastly, Aaron never purposefully says something shocking or offensive if he doesn't feel there is some kernel of truth behind it (very Te thing to do) like the MLK Jr episode, as opposed to the Ti-Fe flavored humor South Park is so abundant with. So yeah, lots of Ni-Fi in his writing.
Biography
Aaron Vincent McGruder (born May 29, 1974) is an American cartoonist, writer, and producer. He is best known for creating, drawing and illustrating The Boondocks, which was later turned into an animated series that McGruder also executive produced. McGruder first started drawing The Boondocks comic strip for hip-hop website The Hitlist Online, before taking the strip to his university's newspaper. Soon after, he signed a deal with United Press Syndicate for The Boondocks to appear in 160 newspapers. Keeping the strip from being pulled from papers due to its controversial content about race proved to be a challenge. But the strip still proved to be popular, which eventually led to the animated series that premiered on Cartoon Network's [adult swim]. In addition to The Boondocks, McGruder also created and produced Black Jesus also for [adult swim] and was a screenwriter for the final script for Red Tails.
