Personality

What personality type is Zhang Yixing "Lay" (EXO)? Zhang Yixing "Lay" (EXO) is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 9w1 - sx/so - 962 in Enneagram, RCOAI in Big 5, ESI in Socionics.

A high achiever Fi dom that actualizes their passion PDB: Must be a TJ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKxkuy0geik Fi-Ne: “Maybe the Zhang Yixing you see now is like this, but the Zhang Yixing you actually see is also not like this. I hope I can be a Zhang Yixing with many dimensions.” “If you are really passionate about this industry/career, and hope to bring more optimism to this industry/career and this society… or if you are not passionate about this industry/career, then please don’t come.” When talking about the criticisms that his new song MV “The Self-disciplined Monk” received: “The amount of criticism you can bear is the same as the amount of praise you can receive, it is a spiritual practice.” MC mentions that Lay has a nickname called “Sheep”, and she thinks the gentleness of sheep is only one side of the sheep’s personality, and that the other side is that they have strong principles. She asks whether Lay thinks he has those qualities. Lay replies “The other side of principled is stubborn. For example I’m stubborn about my music. I have confidence towards my culture. I hope I can see more of my country’s culture (in music). I also hope that not only me, but other young people as well, can try different things and experiment, like exploring different cultural aspects of China, including potential that hasn’t been discovered, and digging into the core, fundamental aspects of ourselves, so that we can show artistic products that have our core values embedded within them to the world.” MC asks is there anything others misunderstand him that he wants to clarify: “No, I don’t think I need to. I think I/people live for the self. When I say expression, it means self expression. Whatever person I am, I think time will tell.” Fi-Si: “The inspiration of this song comes from an older song I listened to in the past, with the same name. (That song talks about staying true to oneself and doing different things, and Lay expresses agreement with that song’s lyrics) A part of the lyrics of that song is not very feasible though, the part that says “so people don’t know who I am”. Cuz… people do know who I am. But anyways, I hope I can work hard to strive for what I believe in, my dreams, my beliefs, in a principled way.“ Ne-Si: “So I’ll just continue to go towards the positive/right direction, to find the answers to life. I guess that’s what it is. You don’t know why you came to this world, but since you’re here, and many people support you… like what you said, in my childhood my relatives were all teachers, they said be a good person, and to be a pillar of society. I was taught that since a young age.” Te (inferior): When asked about his acting career: ”Mainly because I have many good older brothers, seniors (who are guiding me.)” When asked about why he mainly does non-lead roles: “I’m a simple person. My logic goes like this: Because my profession is singing and dancing, I’m primarily a singer, and I received a lot of training, in this field I can say I am a professional. But for acting, I am only a beginner. What I’ve always been emphasizing is, I’m still inadequate. I need good directors to give me an opportunity. I need to learn from good directors, good seniors. So I don’t think it’s a rush. Life is a marathon, there’s nothing that I must do now.” When asked why he doesn’t consider his childhood acting experience as experience: “That doesn’t count. My mom pushed me to do it. I didn’t know what was going on.” Talking about his childhood: “I had to learn many things. Piano, drawing, etc… I didn’t have time to play. I would look down the window and at the kids who were playing downstairs and shout “oh”. Kids should play more.” MC concludes why he thinks many seniors are willing to help Lay rather than other juniors. He thinks it’s because Lay has three qualities - “wants other people to be happy”, “is disciplined/obeys rules” and “has authenticity/a child-like innocence”. He pointed out Lay’s quick conclusion of saying kids should be playing. When asked why he was chosen for a role, he said he was passive about it. Someone recommended him, and that person chose him, so he thought “okay, you finally think about me”. MC talks about when men reach an older age, people start to have different expectations on how they should look. For example they should look more aggressive. He asks Lay on his thoughts, Lay said “Hmm… I will learn." Core values is his no.1 priority. I also don't measure Te usage by the extent of goal-reaching, but more through how the Te function manifests in different positions. INFPs have Te and they use it all the time, but inferior Te manifests as a more passive, receptive role to external structures. Instead of actively restructuring structures like TJs, he feels like he either has to seek guidance from more experienced figures or bend himself to align (and feel sad after). That's what inferior Te looks like.
