What personality type is Jacques Lacan? Jacques Lacan is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 4w5 - so/sx - 459 in Enneagram, RLUEI in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.

Essentially, I think that the typing / consensus is correct. He truly seems to be an INFP. His whole obsession of symbolic order seems to me as J lead, where the imaginary and real represetns the duality of N and S. His main focus was the intersubjectivity which is the main focus of F (the relationship of two or more people, and since he mainly about subject and other, the valuation of Fi seems obvious). Some of his ideas seems interesting, but the sole focus on the discourse (the domain of judgement) and his (from my point of view) ignorance of non-discursive domain (basic reality of sensation or even intuition) bother me a little bit. I guess he just really want that master signifier (Te - in his unconscious) and idealize it into oblivion.

Jacques Lacan was a French psychoanalyst and psychiatrist who has been called "the most controversial psycho-analyst since Freud". Lacan wanted to go back to the original theories of Sigmund Freud ("retour à Freud"), even though he in fact was a major innovator in psychoanalysis. He is well known for his difficult and at times seemingly impenetrable writing style, as well as his attempt to incorporate algebraic symbols into psychoanalysis.
