What personality type is Mikael Åkerfeldt? Mikael Åkerfeldt is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 5w4 - sx/sp - 549 in Enneagram, RCOAI in Big 5, ILI in Socionics.
I had initially voted him as INTP, even made a comment about that, but what I was really going off of was his stage persona. I've watched some more interviews after learning how to type people properly and I can't see him as anything other than INFJ (with an INTP stage persona). His use of the judging functions is very typical for a non-dominant type (meaning balanced Ti and Fe). Here's an example of Fe not being his inferior: "I'm happy to get that question because I know that stuff meant a lot to people. People haven't gotten over that era, I guess that means I am great" - when talking about being asked about his lack of growls. He gets validation from the fact that people like what he does, it makes him happy, but not in a Fe dom way, he still sticks to his vision and what's interesting to him (balanced Ti-Fe). Also, a person with a dominant judging function is very easy to spot. There would be no INFJ-INTP debate if he truly was an INTP. Now for the INTJ/INFP votes, I want to show his absolute lack of Te. "I've never written a song thinking it's gonna sell", "it's always... heat of the moment for me (Ti+Se), when I write music.", "I'm not scared about where we're gonna go... I'm more scared about stagnating and pumping out **** just to maintain a career." - Te doesn't bother him the way an inferior or demon function does, it's more like a 7th function type of disinterest/blindness. So we've cleared that up. NiFeTiSe. But I feel the need to provide some proof for Ni. "Catering to your previous success is not interesting to me" - moves on like anything BUT a Si user. "All the good stuff that we've put out comes with a tale of absolutely horrible music that I'm ashamed of" - NiTi perfectionism "Music for me is not meant to stand still, in the same place." Ni's need to progress, to innovate. So there you have it

Lars Mikael Åkerfeldt (born 17 April 1974) is a Swedish musician, prominently known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of progressive death metal band Opeth, as well as being the former vocalist of death metal supergroup Bloodbath. He was also guitarist for the "one-off" band Steel, and is part of the collaboration Storm Corrosion with Steven Wilson.Åkerfeldt is known for his progressive rock-influenced songwriting style and his frequent use of both clean baritone and growled vocals.
