Biography
Ezra Weston Loomis Pound (30 October 1885 – 1 November 1972) was an American expatriate poet, musician and critic who was a major figure of the Modernist movement in early to mid-20th century poetry. He was the driving force behind several Modernist movements, notably Imagism and Vorticism. His works include Ripostes (1912), Hugh Selwyn Mauberley (1920), and his 800-page epic poem, The Cantos (c. 1917–1962). Pound is one of the major figures in the modernist movement in poetry, but his political and economic views ensured that his life and work remain controversial.
