Personality

What personality type is Soga Akemura? Soga Akemura is an ESTJ personality type in MBTI, 1w2 - SX1 - 163 in Enneagram, in Big 5, in Socionics.

E1 sx/so “I’ll be the hero.” He himself hasn’t been in the manga for too long at the time of writing, but in that short time we see very clear signs of the E1’s passion of anger and fixation on perfectionism. E1's anger is not anger in the traditional sense though it can manifest that way. The passion of anger is described as resentment towards failure to meet their standards, vehement "righteous indignation." The E1's fixation on perfectionism causes them to try and endlessly correct the "imperfect environment". Naranjo states, "...anger is not necessarily something emotional, but more of a burning energy that carries them forward..." In Soga, this manifests as his total belief/"zeal" towards using the enchanted blades to "eradicate evildoers and protect the vulnerable," believing that he must fulfill that mission where others would not, even if it goes against mainstream ethics. He is assured in his correctness and conviction in this stance, remaining completely lucid and sane despite his imprisonment for many years in complete isolation. Soga himself says, "It's unfortunate, but my existence and society's mainstream ethics are incompatible. But somebody had to venture where no one else dared. And the day I eradicated the enemy... I fulfilled my role. And that was enough. Or so I thought." and “Lets get one thing straight right off the bat. I chose, based on my beliefs and ideals, to kill all of those people. To protect this country, and its people.” 'Even if the action is "wrong" or harmful in the eyes of others, the E1 has enough of a sense of superiority, lack of introspection, and anti-ontological disposition that allows them to act in the name of virtue without being plagued by overwhelming guilt.' This mindset is what enables him to genocide hundreds of thousands of people perceived as "evildoers" without a second thought, as well as attempt to cut down people close to him such as Samura and Chihiro without a second thought either. He states, "Naturally, I will kill anyone who stands in my way. No exceptions. The evildoers must all be culled." The moment anyone around him opposes his ideals, it becomes justification to cut them down and kill them. We also see his high standards in another smaller way, in the moments right after he took control of Yura's body. He wakes up and immediately says, "Wielding an enchanted blade in a suit? That's just wrong." He then proceeds to neatly fold Yura's clothes, and then take and put on the robes in the window display. This is a smaller example, but it shows glimpses into his high standards and beliefs on what enchanted blade users ought to do/act/be like. “To a samurai...life is no more than fuel we burn for our ideal world. If our goals are different, we fight to the death. Nothing more.” When it comes to instinctual variant, it's most likely sx>so>sp. Although he has a calmer disposition which is more associated with social or conservation variants, he doesn't use intellectualism to justify his actions or attempt to be a social role model like an SO1 or have the lack of self-assuredness like an SP1. His ideology being described as too extremist and the intensity at which he attempts to fix the world lends more towards the sexual variant of E1. His first resort is to just cut down whoever is in his way, whether its his own nephew, an entire country, or an entire bloodline (the Sazanamis), if they don't meet the ideals/standards. He hits a lot of the same story beats for archetypical SX1 villains where they feel justified in their actions through belief in their own correctness and virtue, i.e Ultron, Miguel O'Hara (ATSV), Light Yagami (controversial).
