What personality type is Shinji Ikari? Shinji Ikari is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 9w1 - sp/so - 694 in Enneagram, RLUAN in Big 5, SEI in Socionics.
Just because he runs away from his problems doesn’t mean that he’s a 9, actually escapism as it self isn’t only a core 9 thing, you can also see it in 4s and 7s but it manifests in different ways. I don’t think I even have to explain all of this, if you have read all of this quotes, watched the show and still think that shinji is truly a 9 I’m just assuming that you completely misinterpreted his character or don’t understand how 9s works in general. Shinji shows lack of inner guidance, reason why he does whatever he’s told to do, because it’s easier, it makes other people happy and provides him a sense of belonging, if he does everything he’s told to do nobody is going to abandon him again in fact people is going to take care of him and praise him for that but he is consumed by anxiety + his self doubt tendencies basically ruin everything and this again just falls into some key parts of the trait structure of sixes: - Fear and cowardice: imagined dangers, fear of change/making mistakes/the unknown/letting go/hostility/trickery/being unable to cope/death/aloneness in a threatening world/betrayal/loving, insecure, hesitant, indecisive, tentative, inclined to compromise, paralyzed by doubt, prone to compulsive double-checking, struggle in unstructured situations, fear future consequences -Ingratiating Friendliness (mainly SP subtype): warm to be likeable and therefore safe, seeking and giving warmth, hospitable, generous, exaggerated faithfulness, obsequious, associate with stronger people, competitive inclinations - Accusation of Self and Others: guilt--alleviated through projection/creation of outside enemies and warmth/rigidity/pugnacity, self-protective, blame-avoidant, feel persecuted, persecute others - Doubt and Ambivalence: uncertainty, invalidate themselves while propping themselves up, doubt self and others, doubt themselves and their own doubt, suspicious but afraid they may be mistaken, wish to please and move against, wish to obey and rebel, wish to admire and invalidate.
