Son Gohan MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Son Gohan? Son Gohan is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 9w1 - sp/so - in Enneagram, RLOAI in Big 5, EII in Socionics.

(1/4)Gohan. The Son of Goku. One of the most popular characters in the dragon ball universe. Let us begin analyzing and seeing Gohan’s character as to why I’ve voted Gohan as Core 6 over Core 9. Let’s us break down his character. “In order to protect those important to me, I need to get more and more powerful.” "THE EARTH EXPLODES?! A DECISIVE KAMEHAMEHA!" Gohan as a child is described as fairly passive, intelligent, yet he lacks the fighting spirit his father roars. His character has shown engagement in conflict very little; however when it comes to those he loves, Gohan feels an intense anger and burning passion in his heart to fight. The E9 type is described in short as; “E9 people idealize simplicity. They say:"But if life is so simple, why do people complicate things? Why do people have so many problems when everything is so simple?" But this is a simplicity achieved with an impoverishment, with a loss of awareness of certain aspects of inner life. And when E9 people begin to mature, then things are not so simple anymore. I can think of somebody who, after taking a long step ahead in ther-apy, felt it a hellish thing that now everything had two faces. Everything was one thing…. and at the same time it appeared to be the opposite. The normal thing is to be able to see things from at least two different points of view, but this person was not used to this, which for her was intolerable. She was in that transition to a greater complexity.” —Claudio Naranjo, Character Neurosis. Gohan is rather peaceful, he’s quiet, and in our minds someone so peaceful who wants a happy life with his family and friends should really just be the E9. “Being only half-Saiyan, Gohan is unusual in his values and personality compared to most full-Saiyans. These unique values and personality separate him from pure Saiyans; as powerful as he is, he does not like fighting much. However, when he is forced to fight, he shows special interest in protecting his family and friends. Like his father, Gohan has a truly pure and gentle heart, apart from having the typical Saiyan appetite and will eat anything.[3]” However, this isn’t exactly the case here. The E6 and E9 are very normally confused. These types often get confused so much because we perceive the E9 as someone whose peaceful, doesn’t like conflict, and is always happy as the 9. While we think of someone who is always anxious, always seeking help, and are quite needy as 6s. But these are only actually stereotypes. “The combination of loss of interiority and the resigned and abnegated character that goes along with it, results in a syndrome of a good hearted, comfortable “earthiness” that may be exaggerated to the point of literalness and narrowness. Ennea-type IX is not only one who has not learned to love himself or herself as a consequence of love deprivation, but also one who forgets his love frustration through a sort of psychological pachydermism, an over-simplification, a psychological amputation that make.” When we compare this back to our fellow Gohan, it doesn’t sound very much like him at all. Gohan’s character is typically described as someone very cowardly from the beginning. His primary concern seems to be his strong attachment to his family, and his extremely reliance on his mentor Piccolo. We mistake Gohan’s passive nature as the E9 when in reality the overarching problem is just that. He is dealing with Ego Cowardice. “Ichazo’s words for the passion and the fixation of ennea-type VI, as mentioned in the Introduction, were “timidity” and “cowardice” respectively. Timidity may be taken to mean an anxious hesitation or inhibition of action in the presence of fear, but if this is so, then the meaning is not very different from that of “fear” which I am using to designate the ruling passion in this character.” —Claudio Naranjo, Character Neurosis. Gohan’s character arcs, starting from the very beginning have had an interesting fixation upon Gohan’s fears. Gohan does not want to fight, Gohan is scared to fight, Gohan is afraid of conflict, so Gohan does not engage. Gohan’s passion is not indolence, as such Gohan does struggle with the psychological inertia of E9. Gohan’s fixation is family, and complying to the needs of those who require his help. Due to his strong personal belief system, Gohan finds himself going out of his way to support others in any way he can. This was notable when Gohan became Great Saiyaman in the Buu Saga, when Gohan supported a group of strangers in the forest, and when Gohan faced his fears in piccolo’s training being alone.

Biography

Son Gohan is a half-blooded Saiyan and is one of the most prominent characters in the Dragon Ball series (arguably, was the deuteragonist of DBZ, until the end of Majin Buu arc). He is the oldest son of the series' primary protagonist Goku and his wife Chi-Chi, the oldest nephew of Raditz, the elder brother of Goten, the husband of Videl and father of Pan. He is named after Goku's adoptive grandfather, Gohan. Gohan is a shy, well-mannered and studious intellectual who lacks the Saiyan fighting spirit, so he had to utilize his incredible half-blooded Saiyan potential and emotional reserves to protect those he loves. Unlike his father (and other full-blooded Saiyans, in general, Broly aside), Gohan lacks a passion for fighting and prefers to do so only when his loved ones are threatened. However, much like his father (but unlike, other full-blooded Saiyans, Broly aside), he is also gentle, kind-hearted, friendly and harbors no ill-will or bad intentions towards anyone.
