I have a few things to say about this character on a personal level. But, first of all (speaking about typology): as an ENFP, I knew Lili was also one from the very first episodes, and this was only confirmed by the end of the story. She's the perfect example of what happens when a Ne-Fi overloads their secondary Te-Si axis and succumbs to one of the darkest aspects of Fi: fulfilling external expectations. I'll also break down the Enneagram here. 📌 The Te-Si axis out of balance. → The Te function in the tertiary position gives ENFPs a "grounded" approach to pursuing their dreams with planning and determination, transforming the countless possibilities of Ne and the impulsiveness of Fi into a structured goal. In Lili's case, this manifests in how she keeps her art (something she loves and always seeks to explore and improve) as her top priority. This is a positive point. However, Lili also exhibits the worst characteristic of those who overload this function, which is exaggerated competitiveness and even a certain air of authoritarianism in her expression (especially with Kit). Interestingly, the tertiary function is called "The Child," right? Well, it's the individual's relief. Lili was raised by an authoritarian mother who didn't value her freedom of thought (Ne) or her passion for art (Fi). Her rigidity in ensuring Lili's success also created a partially rigid daughter, someone who prioritizes excellence over the pleasure of drawing and restricts her possibilities to only one: "becoming n°1." That's why she's so competitive with Kit and gets frustrated to the point of hitting him in episode 9 with a slap—an attitude I found ridiculous and unacceptable, by the way. Furthermore, many people don't know this, but despite preferring spontaneity and authenticity, many ENFPs have a competitive nature. Another point: she herself says she's "a little shy," but shyness and extroversion can go hand in hand; in fact, ENFPs fit exactly into this category of "the shyest extroverts." → Now, her inferior Si is even more visible! Lili's extremely negligent with her own health, physical and emotional well-being, and leisure time, melting away from the rigidity of becoming number 1. She spends sleepless nights translating the books Mr. Charles gives her as job, prefers to spend the little money she has on art supplies instead of buying food—not surprisingly, she's always so happy when invited to eat at Shin and Sakura's house—and avoids going to pubs with the group at first just to improve her technique. And, when she goes to the zoo with Shin, she gets so hyper-focused on drawing that she tells him she "forgot to breathe." This is one of the biggest characteristics of inferior Si! When something or someone restricts the flexibility of Ne and the need for authenticity of Fi, the ENFP becomes critical, rigid, and forgets what they love most: the possibilities of the world. They almost become an ISTJ out of balance (cause of the mirror functions) — I can say this with certainty! → How's the axis developing in her? As she explores England and discovers new places, new artistic settings, and new individual perspectives (Kit's, Dorothy's, Shin's, Catherine's, Peter's, etc.), she "returns to her inner home" — the love of understanding the possibilities of the world (Ne), translating them through her own values and sensitivity (Fi), and, above all, remaining self-centered in what she wants without getting lost in the process. Incredible! 📌 Fi auxiliary out of balance. Another strong characteristic that Lili develops well. These are the three main points: → 1. People-pleasing: Instead of using Fi to honor internal values, she begins to seek external validation to feel worthy by wanting to please her parents and be seen. Ppl with strong but poorly positioned Fi can even seem to have a poorly aspected Fe in this sense. → 2. Exaggerated emotional reactivity: Instead of processing feelings internally, the person takes even things they shouldn't personally (like when she hits Kit even though the issue wasn't with her) and judges others based on the most superficial evidence possible. → 3. Silent self-judgment: Instead of authenticity, the Ne-Fi thinks "I should be better," that is, what the character is for half the story. 📌 4w3 as temperament (in Lili!). She's definitely driven by the sin of envy (E4), not because she's a bad person, but because of constant comparison. She believes that Kit is everything she couldn't be and, at the same time, sees him as a role model. The 3 wing intensifies this by bringing concern with image, recognition, and validation, causing the person to try to compensate for this feeling by standing out or building an admirable identity. Even so, this pursuit rarely resolves the feeling of inadequacy, cuz the comparison happens at the level of "being," not just "having." (+)
