What personality type is Ling Yao? Ling Yao is an ENFJ personality type in MBTI, 3w2 - so/sx - 379 in Enneagram, SLUAI in Big 5, EIE in Socionics.
I was skeptical about the change to ENFJ, but after I thought about it more I changed my mind. Ling doesn't show auxiliary ti. Compared to other characters such as Edward or Kimbely. He will often ignore the absolute most logical approach to do what he thinks is right for his people or others. Just look at the scene with greed. He surrendered his body for a chance to obtain Immortality, despite the fact that greed and Edward told him that this was a bad and foolish idea, since the chances of this helping xing where low. His Fe is also definitely visible, and while I don't think you can just go off of the fact that he fights for his people, because of how fma is, I do think that when you compare Ling to characters such as Edward, alphonse, and Roy, he handles it differently. Edward and Roy still follow a more logical approach along with what's right, just look at how he handled rose. And alphonse does what feels right to him, and follows a strict moral code. Ling doesn't do that. Ling won't try to help them using a cold and painful response, even though its the truth. The only time hes come close to doing this is during the envy fight, where he told Edward to just attack the heads on envy. But thats an odd scene to address, since we don't ACTUALLY know who was right during that scene. We don't know if those were real people or not. I think he was wrong, as when father was does the same thing during the final battle they were real. So based on that, I think Ling might've been lying to himself to save himself and give his clan a better chance. Which could point to high fe, as plenty of fe characters have sacrificed others to help the greater good(hashirama, asgore, and itachi are good examples.) But yeah he definitely has fe over ti. But for my last point, he also doesn't show ne. I don't remember a single moment in the entire series, where he has ne, especially compared to other characters such as Edward and Alphonse. He definitely has ni, but not ne. He's definitely ENFJ over ENTP.
