What personality type is Aunt Lydia? Aunt Lydia is an ESFJ personality type in MBTI, 1w2 - so/sx - 162 in Enneagram, SCOEN in Big 5, in Socionics.

Warning: Dialogue spoilers that don’t really reveal anything about the plot, but warning anyway. Janine: “That’s not fair” Aunt Lydia: “You’re absolutely right. But sometimes we have to do what is best for everyone(Fe), not what is fair. Now, go with aunt Dylan, and I will make sure you get a whole tray of desert” Janine: “You promise?” Aunt Lydia: “Cross my heart” Janine: “And hope to die?” Aunt Lydia: “Hope to die. *kisses her on the forehead*”. Not to stereotype, but I think if Aunt Lydia was an ESTJ, I don’t think she would be nearly as empathetic, focused on harmony, and disregarding of fairness. While strict Te-Si is usually focused on sticking to and upholding the rational tenets of a system, she completely disregards that system in this scene. She could have just as easily sent Janine away crying, but instead, she easily understands and interacts with Janine’s emotions, smiles, and says all the right things to make her feel better. If you don’t remember this scene, please look it up, it shows one of the few times she doesn’t fully follow the dictatorial role that her job gives her, and provides insight into how she thinks as an individual. Fe and Te both extroverted-ly manipulate the people and resources in their surroundings, but whereas Te does it for external reliability and effectiveness, Fe does it for the establishing of harmony. Aunt Lydia consistently shows that her motivations are to keep her girls, and the rest of the world she manages, in line with god and holiness. Due to her method of doing this, she appears heartless or immoral, but really, she does it all for what she thinks is harmony. Additional quotes: “When I get tired, I still try to think of the good I can do, in god’s world. If I can help just one person, one soul, that’s enough. I think of you, dear.” “All I want is for my girls to be protected and safe as they fulfill their sacred duty.”
