Dominant Ni and inferior Se make perfect sense for Randall. He knows that he's not as good of a natural scarer as Sulley, so he tries to leverage his own positive traits/skills to gain a strategic advantage over him, in this case his manipulative nature, cunning, and innovativeness in inventing an entire new way to gain scream energy, cutting his main rival out of the field entirely. This is a common habit for Ni-doms and especially Ni-Te users, who, due to inferior Se, believe that this strategic "game" they're playing is far more rewarding for them than simply going out and trying to be their hardest to be the better scarer. It's why INTJs in particular are often easy to portray as villains, since this pattern of thinking can often lead them to be less honorable than, say, a Se dom or Si dom. Randall is constantly in his own head and has a hard time trusting his gut instincts, instead valuing his own logic and rationality, which is also very common for Se-inferiors. This ends up harming him in the long run because he doesn't act on any of these gut instincts, instead remaining hyperfocused on his own plot out of his envy of Sulley. Biography
Randall Boggs is one of the two main antagonists in Disney•Pixar's animated film Monsters, Inc, and the secondary antagonist of Monsters University and the second season of Monsters at Work. Snide and vindictive, Randall is notoriously envious of James P. Sullivan, the most beloved scarer in Monstropolis. To make his mark on the world while simultaneously stealing Sullivan's spotlight, Randall plots to "revolutionize" the scaring industry using conspiratorial means that involves abducting human children.
