What personality type is Seunghyub (N.Flying)? Seunghyub (N.Flying) is an ISFJ personality type in MBTI, 3w2 - sx/so - 936 in Enneagram, SCOAN in Big 5, ESI in Socionics.
Don’t think I need to analyze him since the general consensus is ISFJ, but I figured I’d give my two cents. If you’re familiar with him at all, you’d know he’s a very caring person, in tune with his surroundings, has a strong work ethic and is a natural-born leader whom all the members trust and look up to. As such, it’s easy to tell which functions he values most – SiFe. Si-dominants seek stability, harmony, and consistency, and value tradition. They rely on past experiences to navigate through life. They are very meticulous and careful with how they go about life rather than jumping head first into situations they might not be able to handle. Now let’s see how that appears in Seunghyub’s camps: “I’ve been planning this for the last 3 months so I couldn’t tell that this was the day.” “Everything I’ve planned for 3 months has changed…” “We have to think about our stamina. We won’t do it without a plan.” Seunghyub clearly emphasizes the importance of planning and methodizing beforehand, making sure everything is set just right. Not saying Se users can't make plans, but he doesn't jump into situations when he is unprepared. If you watch his prolougues, he's very meticulous and careful about his camps. “When I was a child, I thought that rooftops were romantic. But after becoming an adult, I started viewing things more realistically.” “Just like Hweseung, I thought back on all the memories from when we started 6 years ago in Japan as an indie band [after winning first place].” “Seunggu was cute. Back then you listened to me well…” “There was a time I exercised like a habit, like breathing. It was my lifestyle. It’s all meaningless.” These quotes are pretty Si to me, referring to the past, applying it to the present. [to himself in the future] “Seunghyub-ah, you’re doing well right? When you wake up in the morning, make sure to always eat breakfast and I hope you are always smiling.” -> seeking consistency and routine, Si-dominant. “We have to climb up the mountain. Seunghyub’s camps have a sad story. We always do something hard on the 2nd day.” -> Si users value traditions and consistency. There’s literally no reason for him to follow this rule except his own desire for his camps to continue this trend. Seunghyub also always struck me as strong Fe user. Fe users differentiate from Fi users by focusing on the outward environment and the feelings/reactions from people around them. Again, this behavior shows in Seunghyub’s camps: “What are you thinking, you two? [referring to Hweseung and Hun]” “If I plan alone for a good time together, you guys might not enjoy it. I want to hear what you really want to do.” “Let’s try something they want. I sent them [N.Flying members] questionaries to interview them beforehand.” -- Here’s more quotes from him that I found that indicate he’s an ISFJ: “Wherever we go, even if it’s on a deserted island, it’s always enjoyable regardless of the place. It’s all thanks to the members.” -> SiFe, he’s looking back to the past camps to make a conclusion, and he puts emphasis on social harmony. “When I heard the announcement of being first place, I couldn’t understand what I was feeling. However, as I saw the fans being moved and crying in front of me, I realized we actually won.” -> Fe, looking outward to his social environment and their reactions to verify his own feelings. “Whenever you ask him something, the first thing he will say is: “will n.fias like it?” If you ask Seunghyub about something to do, you’ll get the answer: “please do whichever n.fias will like best.” -> a telltale sign of his Fe (and him being the best leader ever) “[when asked about his future] Um…I cannot know about the future but I want to keep performing with the members and eat delicious food while doing so even when I become an uncle or a grandpa. Isn’t that the best thing? It’ll be great if I can do that. I think like that.” -> since Ne is in his inferior slot, he doesn’t utilize it much hence the hesitation to answer. Ne is focused on external possibilities, so it’s clear Seunghyub answers by finding the best possibility that fits his ideal future. So yeah, based on this analysis... ISFJ makes the most sense. ESFJ and ENFJ are also good options but I need to find more examples of his inferior Ti to make that decision.
