They really did him dirty in the TV Series, he's suppose to be the "Strongest" in btoh books and game, but damn did the show (at least so far) didn't exemplify his strength enough.
Biography
Vilgefortz is a mage born in Lan Exeter. He was a member of the Council of Wizards within the Brotherhood of Sorcerers and a close confidant to Tissaia de Vries until the Thanedd Coup, in which he was a vital orchestrator. He clandestinely organised an alliance of mages with Nilfgaard, resulting in the armed conflict on Thanedd and the deaths of many participants. After having defeated Geralt in single-combat, Vilgefortz went up to Tor Lara and attempted to convince Ciri of joining his cause. This attempt failed, whereafter Ciri’s uncontrolled power-surge caused Tor Lara to explode. Vilgefortz survived this eruption, but was permanently scarred on the left side of his face, including the loss of his left eye.
