What personality type is Yashiro? Yashiro is an ENTP personality type in MBTI, 9w8 - sx/so - 947 in Enneagram, SCUEI in Big 5, SLI in Socionics.
I’m a big tbnf fan and seeing Yashiro typed as an ESTP is causing me pain. I was very into mbti a couple of years ago but haven’t looked into it in a while so I’m going off memory but here we go. I’m also an Enfp so this will be more of an incoherent ramble. I don’t see the Se Yashiro has been forced and manipulated into his life by Misumi and his own background. The only purpose he had was Kagayama, and upon rejection he loses any reason to live. He sits literally naked on the streets reflecting on this and how according to himself he never had a future. This seems like the opposite of living in the present moment to me. He is so stuck in the past and what that means to the future that he can’t mobilize his talents in any meaningful way. Misumi picks him up and in doing so sort of fulfills Yashiros prophecy and the fact that he’s kept around for his body and nothing more by his family, kageayma, and now a leader of a major crime syndicate. Now with his own power, Yashiro simply continues this cycle as he believes it’s the only thing his future will ever hold. The Ne Yashiro is shown to be incredibly talented with money and schemes due to his incredible ne-ti. He is good at coming up with ideas and applying logic to execute them. I mainly see this in how Yashiro constantly holds information but is able to discern when to use it by applying ne thought of future and present outcomes instead of a sort of se stagnant statement. He is able to manipulate people this way, and often does, and they can never get a read on him and what he knows. This could almost sound like ni except for the fact that he lacks any sort of overarching goal with most of his decisions being spur of the moment ideas. I think there is lots of Ne in the way he thinks speaks in general too. I don’t know how many people from the movie are here but in the manga there is a clear contrast between the way he thinks and speaks. His speaking is almost a mask for him with most of his jokes being self depreciating and sorounding his promiscuity. However, in the manga it is clear that almost all of this is an act almost like a fake Se in order to get people to not stare too deeply into who he is. This fear is present and Yashiro and surrounds each and every one of his actions. Lastly, I just wanted to mention, though unrelated, how Yashiros ideas and past follow him. He states how he often has a dream where doumeki is reaching him only for Yashiro to become isolated and fade into the dark. I feel like I’ve hammered all my points but I felt the need to include that to back up the previous points. Without minding this he is pretty witty in a sort of stereotypical Entp way and enjoys verbal spar rather than simple present moment conversations with those he finds interesting. Si vs ni Lastly, I think Yashiros has been in an si grip the whole story as stated by some earlier pieces of information. He is constantly stuck on the details of his past thinking that due to it there is nothing left in the present for him. He is constantly having flashbacks when he is otherwise happy which lead to him having a breakdown and pushing others (mostly doumeki) away. I see this a lot in the way that when doumeki is almost killed Yashiro is quick to believe it to happen again and run. Everything for Yashiro is a way to escape his past. It could be argued that he leads others away with a sort of ni intuition but I think that ni isn’t a result from present moment observations but from si itself so in that way I still can’t see it. Yashiro in the manga is currently successful in his illegal casino and it’s sad to think how happy and well off he would’ve been had he been given a decent upbringing. However, I see a lot of redemption in the way he is finally accepting doumeki and his present situation (or at the very least a bit more) it’s hard to put into an exact argument but I really can’t see him being anything but an ENTP, however, I’d appreciate any replies! I love this series and any discourse around it 😁
