Biography
Sergeant Elias Gordon is the deuteragonist of Oliver Stone’s Oscar-winning 1986 anti-war film, “Platoon”. He is a benevolent and idealistic soldier with a pacifistic outlook on the Vietnamese people and the Vietnam War in general. He shows compassion to both the soldiers and the Vietnamese civilians, serving in direct contrast to the film’s main antagonist, Sergeant Bob Barnes. He is outraged when Barnes ruthlessly murders an innocent civilian and chastises Wolfe for not having intervened. Upon returning to base, Captain Harris warns that if he finds out that an illegal killing took place, a court-martial will be ordered, which concerns Barnes as Elias might testify against him however Bunny suggests someone should Frag Elias.
