James Gandolfini MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is James Gandolfini? James Gandolfini is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 9w8 - sx/so - 946 in Enneagram, RLUAI in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.

James Gandolfini was probably an INFJ. He was clearly introverted. Soft and shy, intensely private. He is definitely an intuitive type. That's how his acting process was described by others. Building himself up to the emotion of a scene. His interactions with others was definitely Fe. He made others feel listened to. He could intuitively tell what other cast members needed. When Meadow's actress was struggling with an illness and parents divorcing, he got an acting coach/secretary for her at the time. He was always warm and amiable when meeting fans, though reserved. His documentary on veterans demonstrated his Fe. How he made the veterans feel listened to, that he knew them deeply although they were strangers. He was emotionally invested and an active listener as they told their stories. He chose which plays to act in by reading the response of the crowd to the play. "They were energized, felt alive and were talking about it." In his dialogue he shows clear use of Ti. Apparently as an actor he was very fussy and perfectionistic. Often arguing with the director and writers about what made more sense for the scene. Meanwhile an actor like Edie Falco never complained, immediately memorized the lines and was a natural improviser. James on the other hand had to work very hard to get a scene and made sure he understood it. He can be analytical when talking about a project. Lastly his lifestyle shows inferior Se. He lacked self-control and had trouble managing the hedonistic pleasures he pursued, mainly drugs. David Chase said "he was a man who did not take good care of himself" and unfortunately his health problems contributed to the sudden end of his life. Great actor, his work and kindness will be remembered.
