He was the first big man who ventured outside of the post to guard perimeter players. He was the first player to make shot blocking an important part of the game. Ti - Russell always had his unique way of playing the game. For instance, he would jump straight up instead of leaning towards the shooter when contesting shots because it was easier for him to tell the trajectory of the ball. He also would block the ball in the direction of a teammate instead of sending it out of bounds to avoid giving it back to the opposing team. Fe - Russell's game was always centered around improving the overall play of the team instead of his own. He willingly sacrificed touches and scoring opportunities in order to spread the offensive production around his teammates and to keep everyone happy. He passed the ball much more than the other big men of his era like Wilt, Bob Pettit, and Nate Thurmond, making him the first great passing big man in league history. Wilt only started to pass more after seeing the success Bill was having while doing so Si - Bill has a really developed Si for a Si inferior. William Felton Russell is an American former professional basketball player who played center for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association from 1956 to 1969. A five-time NBA Most Valuable Player and a 12-time All-Star, he was the centerpiece of the Celtics dynasty that won eleven NBA championships during his 13-year career.
