What personality type is Eddy? Eddy is an ESTP personality type in MBTI, 3w4 - so/sx - 378 in Enneagram, SLUEI in Big 5, LIE in Socionics.
Se- Se is usually depicted as materialistic but it is also sensory experiences and thrill. While one of the motivations for Eddy's scams is money for jawbreakers, it is mostly for entertainment (and social acceptance). Eddy can't stand boredom and needs adventure to keep from losing his mind (like when everyone got chickenpox). He gets very reckless and doesn’t think far ahead (underdeveloped Ni). As long as he is busy (getting taller; searching for key’s owner; escaping school; fooling around with the Ed's) he is sane. Although he is not fond of physical labor and prefers pushing off the hard work onto his friends, he does enjoy dancing, jumping around, cooking, pulling pranks (and scams), playing games and even enjoyed building the tree house. He is also pretty athletic and nimble, always leading when running away and is shown to possess high stamina. Eddy lives for the adrenalin and needs constant action. This is what motivates his character and the show pretty much. He also enjoys more materialistic aspects like jawbreakers, money, fashion, his 70's décor bedroom, cars, etc. Ti- This function is subjective thinking and internal conclusion making, usually from personal experiences, shown in Eddy's perceived notions of the way to gaining social acceptance. Everything he learned from his brother he imitates to gain popularity and money ("My brother is a whizz"). It doesn't make sense to him that these same methods worked for his brother but not for him, so he keeps trying over and over ("it worked for my brother when he did it"). This function also helps him conjure plans and scams, but not see them through (his Ni is weak). He also tends to jump to conclusions, like when he thought Ed and Edd worked together with Kevin and stole his magazines, when he became paranoid as Carl, and it's hinted he suspects his friends talk behind his back (“Let's make fun of Eddy behind his back”- when he dressed as Edd.). Eddy leads with logic and not emotion; He hides his true feelings of low self-esteem with a confident persona and we only get clues to his real emotions through the seasons. Only in the movie do we get to see what Eddy truly thought of himself the whole time. Due to the mistreatment by his own brother, Eddy is perplexed by Ed’s doting care when Sarah gets sick. His experiences and abuse by his brother shaped his way of thinking. Ti also means Eddy hates long spiels and prefers getting to the point right away, he gets very impatient with Edd’s lectures. He does learn from his past mistakes, as seen in the movie, although throughout the show doesn’t he showcase until the series run breaks him finally.
Biography
Eddy is one of the three protagonists in Ed, Edd n Eddy and the self-appointed ambitious leader of the Eds. Eddy is often selfish, and mostly works for his own interests, sometimes even neglecting his friends. Because he is frequently overambitious, deceiving, loud, and power-hungry, his peers often socially reject him. Kevin describes him as being "desperate" on more than one occasion, as Eddy is indeed starved for social acceptance and he is irritated by the fact that his rival Kevin is the most popular kid, whereas he is not even as popular as Plank.
