Personality

What personality type is Peter “Pete” Campbell? Peter “Pete” Campbell is an ENTP personality type in MBTI, 3w4 - so/sx - 361 in Enneagram, SLOEN in Big 5, LIE in Socionics.

People can't spot shadow functions to save their lives and also the shadow functions aren't real. That said, Pete's Se shows up in several scenes: tossing the turkey over the balcony, tumbling down the stairs, smacking the support beam in his office with his FACE, sucker punching Ken, starting the fight with the insurance guy on the train and also the whole random affair with the guy's wife, the fight with Lane (also his Ne-Fe running wild when it should have a muzzle on it). Nearly all of these blunders come to pass as a result of not being able to reason his way through a situation, or just generally having rejected his physical surroundings until his ability to think his way around or out of them has utterly failed. ENTPs especially freak out limbically at the drop of a hat when things are pushed so far beyond their control. As for cries of "where's the Ne??", I don't know what to tell people. Either you have a nose or some method for sussing out rapidly generated sweeping abstractions or you don't. Pete is regularly derided/scolded for ideas that are far too brazen/inferential for the dimmer, more traditional sensibilities of those around him (except for Burt, Don, Ken, Lane, and most of the other intuitives). The deal with the TV company alone, Pete makes the most rational possible move to increase sales by playing to a specific demographic because, shocker, it would almost certainly work. It's a win-win in his mind, and therefore a win for the agency and the client, yet in the end, plain old racism and status quo BS not only stops his idea in its tracks but gets him kicked off the account (I think). The character consistently generates unique observations and twists perspectives to accommodate a goal that, typically, is only a means to an end. Parables, anecdotes, spotting discrepancies, predicting *%$#. Whatever. Tert Fe (AND NOT FI TRICKSTER) ought to shine through for people as well, as he was really excited about that rifle but then it was all RUINED and MEANINGLESS. I'm rambling and all wrong again.
