Airi Momoi MBTI Personality Type
Personality
What personality type is Airi Momoi? Airi Momoi is an ESFP personality type in MBTI, 4w3 - sx/sp - 416 in Enneagram, SLOAI in Big 5, SEE in Socionics.
Edit: this argument is still good for her MBTI but i’ve changed my mind about airi on a few things so some things here may be outdated Momoi Airi: ESFP argument. {1/2} Introduction: : I recently reread the first Airi focus event Time to Re:Start Now. I haven’t played Project Sekai recently, but I was always really interested in its stories. Airi was always my favorite and the 3w2 typing never really made sense to me, because it feels like an oversimplification of her character. 4w3 fits her so much better, however that was incompatible with ENTJ which is her current consensus that I had never doubted. But finally, after recent comments on this page, I’ve come to the conclusion of Airi being an ESFP. Function breakdown: —— Sensory > intuition preference (Se dominance) : Airi is undoubtedly a sensor. ENTJ is already incompatible with this. Se dominance implies that Airi is always focused on how she presents herself outwardly, quick reactions and responses to her current environment’s stimuli and an objective approach to problems based on factual information that she has experienced. In other words: Airi is a sensory dominant because her main focus lies in her senses. She’s very quick to react because she has fine tuned her senses, therefore she knows how to manipulate her environment and places great importance in this. In the main story, Airi is constantly judgy towards Minori due to her lack of experience. The tips and training she offers to Minori and the girls are based on experiences that she has placed great value in. She is definitely not a Si user however. This is because Airi is probably the most objective character in the entire game, only placing trust on things that she can actually verify as true via her senses. She has great contrast with Shizuku with whom you can see the distinction between Si and Se: Airi has a greater presence in the moment (aka: in the real, current present) and is quick to respond to Shizuku’s subjective words and actions that are more based upon internal feelings. She corrects Shizuku’s clumsiness and rejects her feelings because she’s not used to that since her cognitive process is just different. When compared to Ena though, both are shown to be really similar. They’re both quick to react to their environment, are impulsive with actions and words, and they’re more used to judging the information that they see objectively, indifferent to subjective feelings about what they might be sensing. This is Se>Si. —— Feeling > thinking preference (Fi auxiliary) : One reason as to why so many anime ESFPs get mistyped as ENTJ is because their Fi comes off as pushy, and because ESFP’s main function (Se) is already objective itself similar to Te, their Fi is immediately written off as inferior. This basically follows the narrative that because Airi is strong-minded, unidealistic, and leaves her feelings aside when talking about her experience as an idol, she is immediately inferior Feeling. This is untrue. Airi is extremely realistic not because of inferior Fi but because of dominant Se. Her Fi is actually drastic. Along with her enneagram (sx4), they are the main focus points in her event stories. Airi places great, HUGE value in who she is and her identity as an idol. Unlike what her current consensus would imply she’s like, during her idol/variety show career, Airi ended up prioritizing her own feelings about who she wanted to be and what she wanted to be like OVER her success. Ofc Airi wanted to be successful, don’t get me wrong. My point is that success isn’t the most important thing for her, because despite being way more popular and recognized as a variety show talent, she instead decided to pursue her own passion of being an idol. Her idealism kind of had to die after being subjected to the idol industry from a young age and seeing what someone actually needs to do and be like in order to be an idol, hence her jealousy towards Shizuku, who was always taken seriously from a start due to being beautiful and talented. Airi never had this and she feels justified in her resentment towards Shizuku, despite Airi herself being who initially motivated Shizuku. Basically: Airi is a person of strong values and feelings. Despite appearing as if she wants to ignore them (due to how strict she is as an idol), she is heavily reliant on them. In “Happy Lovely Everyday” this is reinforced even further. After the identity she wants to be known as is reinforced and complimented by one of the children she’s taking care of, she gets really emotional, knowing that she’s finally been successful in pursuing her passion and giving hope.
