His character is so prideful that’s it’s actually embarrassing LOL. He always says how he doesn’t like to ask other people for help and when he gets lost at the library, his school, or a city, he’ll try to secretly call a taxi or pretend he’s “waiting” for someone. 😂 It’s like putting hand soap on your toothbrush and sticking it in your mouth because you were thinking about something else so deeply that you didn't notice it was soap and not toothpaste. Basically, Yamaken is always thinking about something else and when he takes the same occasional route to go the usual destination, he’s always panicking because he’s so prideful. Instead of him admitting that he’s actually lost, he tries to use his wealth and call taxi’s to not look vulnerable LOL. His pridefulness probably also connects with the fact that he’s a 4w3. 4w3 seeks to become unique. He looks to further differentiate himself through achievement, taking on some of the dynamics and work ethic of the typical 3. Ultimately though, that achievement is meant to lay testament to their overall uniqueness. They achieve to show how unique they are in comparison to everyone else, 3 tactics serving to mold them into an anomaly. Uniqueness takes precedence over achievement. He also tries to take the same classes to impress Shizuku because he obviously has a crush on her. Yamaken uses achievement to further prove his authenticity and uses it differentiate himself from others. That inferior Se hurts.
Biography
Yamaguchi Kenji (山口 賢二?, lit. Kenji Yamaguchi) is a student at Kaimei Private School. (nickname Yamaken). Although he initially uses him, Kenji is one of Haru Yoshida's friends. He attends the same cram school as Shizuku Mizutani .Kenji eventually falls in love with her and later tries to win her affection. After being rejected by Shizuku, he distances himself from her despite his unchanged feelings. One of Kenji's obvious characteristics is his pride. When he was lost in Syoyo High School and when he couldn't find the right sector in the library, he refused to ask anybody for help; as he is seen telling Shizuku "I don't like asking other people for help". It also seems that he is somewhat afraid of Yūzan Yoshida (Haru's older brother). But Kenji denies it and says that he only had a traumatic experience, and that nothing scares him. On that note, Shizuku comments that his pride will be his undoing one day.
