Thom Yorke MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Thom Yorke? Thom Yorke is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 4w5 - sp/sx - 451 in Enneagram, RLUEI in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.

Ok here's an actual argument for INFP over INTP, since a few people seem to still think he is the latter Fi : Ever since the Pablo Honey days, Thom's lyrics have always relied on his feelings, views and morals. Whether that's love, desire, politics, the world around him, etc. His lyrics have always had an introspective and authentic feel to them. So much so that they even came off as cringe at times , immature or hard to understand. This is in part due to the fact that he wasn't the best songwriter when younger though. Thom has also always been about authenticity and doing things his way. As a few of the comments here have mentioned, one of the reasons Thom hated playing 'Creep' live for a while is because its lyrics didn't represent the headspace he was in anymore. You see stuff like this with high Fi users, particularly unhealthy ones ; we'll have strong feelings and perspectives on things, hold on to it for a long time, and if it becomes too much to bear, doesn't represent us anymore or if it makes us look bad, weird or morally incorrect in anyway shape or form (this is also attuned to low self worth and self esteem), we'll drop it instantly. Fi users are known for our immovable and consistent beliefs about things, but if any factor proves to go against that, we'll drop it in an instant if we have to. Another indicator of Thom's Fi is his politics. He's always been known for his high skepticism and fear in relation to the advancement of technology, as he sees it furthering the corruption of our capitalist state. He donates to climate change charities and is an active believer in speaking your truth and staying true to yourself. The ugliness and unhealthiness of Thom's Fi showed itself when he refused to cancel the band's performance in Tel Aviv during the A Moon Shaped Pool tour in 2017, despite Roger Waters and countless other musicians encouraging him to do so. Again, there's that Fi going against "common belief". Ne : I'd think this was obvious, even to the INTP voters ofc, but some still seem to think Thom is an INxJ, so here's this. Like I mentioned before, Thom has a huge skepticism of the advancement of technology. All throughout OK Computer, this is represented in a myriad of ways, from people losing their sense of self, to the world ending, politicians furthering corruption or any other possibility of the future. As stereotypical as this may sound, I think the ability for Yorke to intuit all these possible results of the world heading down the path it’s currently on, that have some truth to them in hindsight and that all have one underlying theme, seem very Ne to me. In a few interviews from the past few years, people have asked Thom how it feels to have some of the things he was singing about 20+ years ago come true, or at least to the forefront. I’ll link a few of those when I’m done. I think the abstraction and randomness of the band’s lyrics and finding connections between emotions, concepts and theories and applying them to real life occurrences show Ne too. Si : When he was younger, Thom’s identity and sense of self, at least to the outside world was constantly changing, He dyed his hair different colors a lot, changed his fashion and clothing often and was just a little ball bursting with ideas and creative energy. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still innovative and creative as hell, but as time goes on and as he’s gotten older, you can see he’s relaxed a little bit. He dresses more casually and comfortably, with neutral colors and patterns and overall just seems more grounded and at peace with himself and the Earth. Whenever he had moment of low self worth and sense of self, you can tell he was stuck in some sort or analysis paralysis and poor connection with the past. Indicative of an Fi-Si loop if you ask me. Te - I don't have an argument for Te tbh, since I haven't really seen him use it or use a lack of it. But it is his inferior function, so that's naturally harder to spot. https://youtu.be/3UJfvD4Ctsk https://youtu.be/t_qM2ggk4es https://youtu.be/tw_0e5rErtM
