The magic of Barney lives in every boy and girl, if only you believe. He was waiting at a bus stop. BJ was talking the Baby Bop. Barney said how he'd like some deeper conversation. It wasn't raining, which saddened Barney. He dusted off his dinosaur skin, stood up, and asked with BJ in earshot: "Where's the darn bus already? It seems like I've been waiting for ages. That's enough, BJ. Anyway, if the bus doesn't come I can't. I have to work well with others." BJ looked up. Per usual his face had a familiar expression as if he got down on his knees every day. "Barney." "What?" "Hey, Barney." "Yes, BJ." "Don't you think it's time you got a car? If you did, we wouldn't have to be waiting all day for the bus to come." "Look, BJ, I'm not gonna tell you that a car wouldn't look swell, but some things in life are more important, like Public Transport. It makes me feel connected to take the bus. Some day you'll understand." "Understand this, Barney. I'm Yellow. I mean, I'm YELLOW." "Would you rather be purple?" "I don't know. I just wish sometimes I wasn't a dinosaur. Maybe life would be easier, you know. Somebody had to school me on what Pokémon was. I was thinking it was a game you played with T-Rexes, but it turns out it's a fictional world full of strange creatures that get caught in balls." "Well, BJ, that sounds like my fleet. It always comes upon an iceberg, especially when the bus is late. Where is that bright and pleasant bus?" BJ started crying. Barney looked over to see his friend all covered in dream tears, which (if you don't know) are tears that run out in rainbow swirl drops. "What's wrong, BJ?" "I was talking to Baby Bop yesterday and she told me I should purchase a pack of Huggies Nappies. That really hurt my feelings, Barney. Do I need Huggies Nappies?" "Umm. God Skippity, BJ. Gee, I'm really not sure. I mean, why did Baby Bop make that recommendation?" "She said leaves were stuck to me, and they weren't the sticky kind." "Sticky leaves?" "No. That's just it. They weren't sticky, but I was sticky and she noticed something orange." "Oh. My Dear. That's not good." Just then, Barney had a flashback. He saw last night perfectly clear, the ball where he waltzed up the decorated stairwell, the faces of guests in masks, the song playing of a familiar musical almost on the tip of his tongue, something phantom, and then he remembered it, his routine. Barney turned away from BJ. He looked down at his purple hands. Not again, he thought, clenching his enraged fists. "I didn't, did I? I couldn't have." Barney was talking to himself. "What's that, Barney?" "Nothing, BJ." Barney closed his eyes, and fell his face in shame. The whole scene came back to him, burning images, the romance, the electrifying twists and turns, the mimicry of dinosaur faces, the flashcard variety with incredible exaggerations, the bottle of champagne, the lead up, the grace of the homecoming hallway, the hotel suite, the number 6, or was it 9? Either one or the other, and the fresh fragrance, the midnight zucchini, the medicine cabinet, HELP on the mirror-pane, YES, and the magazines spread out with carnival nightmares, an elephant and a man who shall not be named, closer to the bed a collection of antlers, OKAY, and a jar full of homeless snails, lips, sucking, making noise, branches breaking on the HD Television, Humphrey Bogart throwing something, THERE, and BJ, Poor BJ. "What have I done?" Barney, grappling with fear, told BJ he should probably get the Huggies Nappies. "Why?" "Well, BJ, those weren't leaves." "What do you mean?" "Look, BJ, I'm ashamed to say it, but sometimes when the moon is full and yellow, very yellow, I succumb. I succumb and I flatten out snails onto unsuspecting people's backsides with antlers as I toy with a zucchini." The bus arrived. Barney and BJ got on, taking their seats in silence. It was an awkward ride to say the least. BJ never talked about it again and Barney never asked. In their local newspaper three months later it was reported there had been an incident eerily similar that happened to Christina Aguilera. BJ looked at Barney while the purple one was giving a big hug. Barney's eyes couldn't lie. Classic ENFJ.
