Guo Jia MBTI Personality Type
Personality
What personality type is Guo Jia? Guo Jia is an INTP personality type in MBTI, 5w4 - sx/so - 594 in Enneagram, RCUEI in Big 5, in Socionics.
IMO, the ten advantages speech suggests INTP cognitive functions. The ten advantages weren't "Ten Awesome Ideas for Winning Against Yuan Shao", or even "Ten Things We Are Good At", as you would expect from an Ne-dom. They were more like "Ten Criticisms of Yuan Shao that Don't Apply to Cao Cao." In other words, it's more the Ti-dom way of analyzing and critiquing rather than idea generation. This is also seen in the strategies he proposed. Rather than proposing bold or novel stratagems, his advice almost always followed the same logic-driven pattern as the points in his advantages speech: "Given [the situation/this person's personality], if [someone] does [this thing], this would be the outcome." In addition, Sanguozhi gives his character as a young man, which seems more consistent with an INTP. He connected only with scholars/gentry (who found him brilliant), didn't really mingle with others, and was not well-known unlike many of his peers. This suggests against the usually more vivacious 7w8, and points towards 5w4 or 5w6; by relation, they also point towards INTP and away from ENTP. His noted happiness at finding a suitable lord to serve also seems in line with the typical "INTP strategist" - a brilliant person who wants to serve the right leader (usually an ENTX). As a side note on enneagram and strategy - not even sure those would be that strongly correlated, but with regards to the Battle of Xiapi, Guo Jia and Xun You gave the same recommendation. It... would be odd to describe Xun You as a 7w8. Indeed, it was said that Guo Jia and Xun You often presented their shared ideas together and were frequently in lockstep strategically.
