Dozens of times I've gotten told by people I thought were friends with me that I'm scary (as if i was a murderer) intimidating or straight up icy cold with no feelings. I'm not a particularly sensitive person but I'm no psychopath either! When I really appreciate someone I don't show it because I assume they take it for granted. If you're the only person I ever interact with it definitely means something.
