He is literally still an INFJ 1w9 like in the games, but he has done this miraculous thing called... *grown.* I know, that can be a foreign concept for some personality theorists... He seems more like an INFP 9w1 now because he has become less rigid in his thinking and more flexible. He has also learned how to be true to himself (which people here shout "fi!!"). But the whole point is that these were areas of weakness for him originally that he has had to work hard to overcome. At his core, he is still most certainly conscientious ("judging"), caring toward others ("Fe"), and needing to strive toward a structured vision/goal ("judging + Intuition" or "Ni"). That vision has shifted to something different and healthier and more flexible (becoming the bridge between people and pokemon) but it still remains a core characteristic of his that he needs to have a vision.
