What personality type is Elizabeth Afton? Elizabeth Afton is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 5w4 - SX5 - 541 in Enneagram, RLOAN in Big 5, EIE in Socionics.
The book Elizabeth Afton is an INFJ, why? Let me explain it in a few steps: Starting off with simple arguments, ENFJ's are known for being "bubbly", talkative & open, she on the other hand, isn't bubbly and talkative at all, except when it came to her talking to her father and even then she kept her responses short but friendly. I think if she would've had friends, it would've been mentioned, since it was mentioned for Charlie too, this leads to me thinking of her being an INFJ rather than an ENFJ. ENFJ's are Fe-doms and their auxiliary function is Ni, an INFJ's dominant function is Ni and the auxiliary is Fe, why I don't think that Elizabeth is an Fe-dom is because, her emotional interactions demonstrate auxiliary Fe, not dominant Fe. Elizabeth is skilled at reading emotions, but she does not remain emotionally reciprocal or responsive. In scenes where she confronts others, she rarely adjusts her approach based on their reactions. Instead, she delivers emotionally loaded statements with certainty, assuming they should feel a certain way. ENFJs typically adapt their tone in real time to maintain harmony or persuasion. Elizabeth doesn’t negotiate emotionally she basically declares. Her Fe is used to reinforce her inner narrative, not to co-create emotional rapport. One of the strongest Ni indicators is how often Elizabeth speaks as if events have already been decided. In her confrontations with Charlie, she doesn’t argue to discover the truth or negotiate understanding. Instead, she asserts what is real and what must be. Her lines repeatedly carry the implication of “this is how it is” rather than “this is how I feel right now.” That sense of prophetic certainty is core Ni. ENFJs tend to persuade through emotional momentum and shared values; Elizabeth speaks from a place of internal knowing, as though she is merely unveiling a truth that already exists. Her fixation on identity is also distinctly Ni-driven. Elizabeth doesn’t talk about wanting love in an open-ended or relational way. She frames her desire in terms of who she is meant to be. In scenes where she references her father and his creation, her words imply destiny rather than attachment. She is not asking for connection she is demanding recognition of a role she believes was always hers (Being her fathers attention and how she called it "his world"). That is Ni organizing experience into a singular symbolic narrative, not Fe dominance seeking emotional reciprocity. Here is a link to a website that describes an child INFJ's behaviors: https://www.tumblr.com/weirdfella/147856541236/the-struggles-of-being-an-INFJ-child-by-susan "This means that they are always trying to figure out the connections between things, and trying to understand the bigger picture." ---> This behavior shows up many times in Elizabeth, she desperately keeps trying to understand why William's attention is so focused on Circus baby and his work instead of her. She also desperately wants to understand, why her father doesn't have any affection left for her. Again, this is Ni-dom, not Fe-dom. "Many INFJs mention that as children they struggled with accepting reality for what it was." ---> Elizabeth does exactly that the entire time, not accepting that William doesn't love her and so she keeps on trying to gain his affection and attention. "Introverted Intuition is a function that requires a lot of solitary time to process. INTJ and INFJ children often need to escape from everyday life to be able to enter the recesses of their minds and ponder their course in life or the various meanings and ideas they’ve unlocked throughout the day. They can be a little obsessive about their goals or interests, and this is because Ni (Introverted Intuition) is a very singularly-focused function. Ni is intensely focused on one big idea or one main interest that connects everything else. One sure way to aggravate an INFJ child is to break into their meditative Ni-state with loud, sensory stimulation. They tend to get easily overstimulated and can become so caught up in their ideas that they are easily startled when faced with an interruption." ---> Everything mentioned here literally describes Elizabeth's behavior and her fixation and "obsession" with circus baby and wanting to become her. So many things mentioned are SO ON POINT. https://wiki.personality-database.com/books/enneagram/page/social-2-in-detail https://wiki.personality-database.com/books/enneagram/page/sexual-5-in-detail Now if you read both descriptions of an Sx5 and an so2, you should immediately understand that Elizabeth is more of an sx5 than an so2. ---> SO2: Becomes the caretaker, is a big empath and fixates on helping people (people pleaser). ---> SX5: YEARNS for deep and trust worthy relationships, duo to childhood trauma. (Want a one-to-one bond with a certain person they love). So with everything I've just mentioned I think everything points to her being an INFJ rather than an ENFJ.
