Gallahan Lombardi MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Gallahan Lombardi? Gallahan Lombardi is an ISFJ personality type in MBTI, 9w1 - sx/so - 962 in Enneagram, in Big 5, in Socionics.

Gallahan can be tricky, because he is one of the characters who changed the most between lives. Personally, I'd say he's still the same types he was on Tia's first attempt, just healthier or more developed, so this is why I voted ISFJ. Some people are talking about INFJ and INFP, so I'll try addressing these as well. **Not spoiler free, read at your own risk** One thing that can be observed is that Gallahan avoids change and has little ambition. He is generally fine with letting things be, this being one of the reasons why he wasn't chosen as the next head of the Lombardi (the other being... well, he died): he never meant to be part of the competition. Even if Gallahan is studious and very intelligent, he didn't go to the Academy, didn't work on his reputation and didn't seek to expand his connections. Instead, he was pleased to stay in the Lombardi residence, writing books of his own (which never saw the outside world) and spending time with his daughter. This whole thing feels a lot like dom Si. It's not that he's adverse to change, but he's typically resistant to it, because he's comfortable with things the way he knows them. The dom Ni Gallahan would not need as much incentive from others like he did, being naturally drawn to speculating and making connections of his own. His ability to make connections is somewhat poor, as noted during the collaboration with the Angenas. The fabric developed was easy to dye, light and absorbed liquid well while being breathable. Gallahan's idea was to get feedback from aristocracy, which, to Tia, would be a waste of time. This is why she spilled tea over the fabric, showing what it could do, but Gallahan still focused on its potential of absorbing liquid well, thinking that this could be a selling point worth mentioning to the clothing stores, this being supposedly enough for it to sell, so, in the end, Tia still had to spill the beans about the need to generate interest by >showing< how useful the cloth can be. Gallahan picked on it, but couldn't come up with a way of letting people >try< it, so Rulac suggested picking some people and giving them a prototype. Gallahan worried about the time left until the launch, but still didn't think about anything which could work. Turns out Tia asked for a handkerchief. As the story progresses, Gallahan's main motive is shown to be Tia and his promise to her mother. These are the ones forcing Gallahan to step out of his comfort zone and actually do stuff: if he doesn't, Tia's future is at risk. It's never about honoring the Lombardi or for his own good. It's always to ensure Tia's wellbeing, but it's also not something he realised on his own: Shananet was the one giving advice ("You can't protect anything by running away and hiding", "A lion can't come out of a coward, so what should be done?") and Tia herself pulled strings to get him to show his potential (as shown during the business with the Angenas). And this is also a part of him which developed a lot when he fell ill. If before he was doing his best not to prejudice Tia's right to possibly be matriarch of the Lombardi, his illness made him realise one day he wouldn't be there to protect his loved daughter. Instead of sulking over being so unfortunate, the possibility of dying prematurely got him to prepare everything to ensure Tia's safety. This is something noted by Rulac, who was more focused on finding a cure for the disease, rather than accept fate and prepare for it. Gallahan had the nerve to do the right thing, even if he had the right to feel wronged by destiny, and even accepted proposals he had declined in the past because said decision was a safer way for Tia. Even if he, himself, was opposed to them. These seem more like Fe-Ti (doing what's objectively right and what makes sense to him) rather than Fi-Te. The INFP Gallahan, with dom Fi, inf Te and the combo Ne-Si, would have a much harder time doing the same, first judging the information of having little time to live (as unfortunate because his time with Tia ran short) and only perceive it afterwards (implied to be more optimistic and responsible, possibly spending the remaining time doing meaningful things).
