because i am crazy and i have nothing better to do! i think i'm going to argue for his type just for the hell of it. spoilers ahead dominant fe . it's pretty obvious that this function comes as easily as anything to hero. from his introduction after white space, between aubrey and kel's arguing he interjects and tries to find a compromise between the two. our first bits of dialogue from him are one of fe's most obvious abilities: being able to create peace between people around the user. his giving nature isn't something that needs to be analyzed in a lot of depth. hero puts a lot of effort into providing comfort and support to all of his friends in a couple of different ways, from verbal encouragement to acts of service. i can drop a few examples: - hero, after having done sunny's chores: "i noticed the TO-DO LIST with the chores your mom gave you, so i finished them all! hope you dont mind!" - hero, discussing aubrey with kel and sunny: "hold on, KEL... if AUBREY's that upset, we should at least try to do something to help." "It's true that she's changed, but it doesn't change the fact that i still care about her" - hero, in the treehouse with aubrey, kel, and sunny: "i'm relieved that we were still able to become friends again. i'm happy that we're all here... so that we can face this together" - hero, while talking to polly about basil. she's informed him that basil wont leave his room. "oh no... is there anything we can do to help?" his next bit of dialogue, which is for basil, is literally "hi BASIL, its HERO. im hereo with KEL, AUBREY, and SUNNY." "we're all here to see you! is there anything we can do to help?" "we just wanted to let you know that we're here. let us know if you need anything, okay?" i dont think i need to drop in anymore examples haha you get the idea. he's very focused on the idea of keeping the group together. while kel initiated the reconnection with sunny, hero takes the steps to try to talk to aubrey and work things out with her. his focus is on helping everyone to better understand eachother and to find some of the pieces of their old friendships. he is most content when he can see his friends getting along and feeling happy, even and often at the expense of his own feelings and energy. speaking of self-sacrifice. another frame of reference when looking at fe is to consider how the user might neglect their own feelings, values, or morals for others. his fifth function, fi, often appears selfish, irrational, or unreasonable to him. when traveling through memory lane, there's a brief section where hero discusses his feelings about the future. he basically says, "hey SUNNY... can i poke your brain for a minute? i really love cooking and all, and MARI always says im really good, but my parents want me to become a doctor... do you think i should become a chef?" there's actually a lot to pull away from that. a lot of high fe users tend to defer to others when it comes to their identity and desires. because they are so focused on building values and ideas that will ultimately be better for others, as well as themselves in that regard, they tend to become confused and uncertain when it comes to gauging what they want personally. i think the fact that he adds that mari "thinks [he's really] good" at cooking shows how indecisive he is about whether its worth pursuing or not. he feels as though he needs some sort of outside influence to come in and instruct him on what the best path would be. while he recognizes that he likes cooking, without outside support, he probably doesn't see it as anything more than a small hobby. in the real world when hero spends the night at sunny's, he reminisces, saying, "man, i remember when i wanted to be a cook... it seems so silly now". even if its something he lost passion for, its obvious that it was important to him, and that he still thinks about it from time to time. it was another dream that he let go of without support from others to encourage him to pursue his desires. on top of that he has to juggle the approval of his parents. i think its pretty obvious throughout the game that he cares a lot about them, its made especially obvious that he cares for his mom. when he decides to go visit sunny's house with sunny and kel, he reassures her that "i'm going to be here for the rest of summer, and SUNNY is leaving the day after tomorrow! we have plenty of time to catch up...". he even leaves to buy her flowers to make her feel better. hero's deeply in tune with the effect his actions have on others and is quick to clarify what he means when he feels as though he might have hurt someone. his frequent apologies and expressions of gratitude show how understanding he is of the effect of checking in with others.
