What personality type is Cecil Glo Alphasta? Cecil Glo Alphasta is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 3w4 - sx/sp - in Enneagram, RCOEI in Big 5, EII in Socionics.
(1/2) I understand people would be hesitant to type such a clear INFJ as an E7, but Cecil really is the sp 7 archetype. He matches the trait structure (and general descriptions) almost perfectly: https://wiki.personality-database.com/books/enneagram/page/self-preservation-7-in-detail Cecil's whole issue was that he was bored with life because nothing was a challenge to him and he found absolutely nothing interesting. Even in the second chapter alone he says the following: "For someone like me who can do things on their first try, the world is quite a boring place. I've hardly ever felt the joy of accomplishing anything. Every scenery I see just looks dull. I can only enjoy myself now because of my unpredictable, adorable fiance." Cecil takes up Bertia's requests because he wants a challenge and wants to be distracted from boredom (E7). Her ability to actually surprise him is what leads him to calling her his new "toy" and eventually becoming genuinely fond of her. We also know that if Cecil never meets his "promised maiden" he is destined to become the "android prince," doing anything to prevent himself from "dying of boredom": whether that be starting numerous wars and invasions, getting lost in research, or abdicating the throne and running away. This is highlighted by Heronia's words in Ch. 20: "If you can't get with me, then you'll stay the way you are now. You'll be spending boring days in a colorless world. You'll be unable to stand the boredom, and you'll fall to ruin." Cecil responds in his mind, showing rare discomfort, "I don't understand what she's saying...But what is this? I feel like she's rudely scratching at something I don't want to be touched." In Ch 21. he mentions his deepest desire during his childhood: "The me from that time had no likes or dislikes. I was a living doll that didn't have any emotions. But that's exactly why I had just one wish- I wanted someone who could interest me, someone who I could treasure, someone who could draw out my emotions." A few panels later we see Cecil experiencing fear for the first time: "I feel like this vivid feeling of my old, emotionless self, will steal the warmth known as emotions I gained from the time I spent with Tia. What I'm feeling right now... is fear. No- I don't want to go back to being a doll." Cecil is such an E7 it hurts! In terms of sp 7, besides Bertia, all of his relationships are very transactional/give-and-take focused. He networks and spends time with people who he has an affinity with and have similar interests to him, and ends up creating a mafia-like family. It's actually a bit funny how in ch 13. everyone sits together like a mafia meet-up and Cecil goes "would you mind helping me with my personal revenge?" lol. Also, just as in Naranjo's sp 7 description, all of Cecil's conversations (again, with the exception of Bertia) lead to business.
