9w8 specially sp are one of the most common enneagram for ISTPs and it basically describes their behavior. i think because of stereotypes both from ISTPs and 9s, people think all 9s as feelers and all ISTP are 8s, 5s or sx6s. The thing is the sp 9w8 is focused on keeping their inner peace and fulfilling their appetites. They are the live and let live personality, if something doesn't affect them then its not their problem, if their physical needs are ok then they assume theyre ok too, they ignore their feelings completely because they cant handle conflict and its easier to deal with logic (they will do whats easier because they struggle getting out of their comfort zone, "if its ok now, why change and cause problems"). They are slightly more assertive due to their 8 wing, however, theyre still 9s and can act passive and agreeable if they think its going to get them out of problems, they are usually indecisive, doesnt choose a side and go with the flow. Combining the sp9w8 with ISTP we have a really unpredictable personality, can be two extremes at the same time,for example, that can be nice one and day rude another, agree but be passive agressive about it, nice to others but also aloof and apathetic, talkative but quiet, etc. Its an individualistic and selfish personality but not the kind to mess with someone without a reason. ISTPs dont like confrontations, its the opposite, they just want to be left alone.
